stevoz Posted March 13, 2024 Author Posted March 13, 2024 I had to buy another copy of this as the last one got cancelled and refunded 'due to being sold or unavailable'. Sheese, these sellers who aren't organised stock wise! Anyway, this time via Ebay, Starcastle "Fountains Of Light" Oz 1st pressing, graded excellent but seller claims 'rarely played'. Fingers crossed on this one. 4

Perseverance has definitely paid off! Thanks Steve. I reckon anyone who spends a few hours a week flicking through record racks and crates keeps a kind of browsing history in a part of the brain that gives us a good idea of the likelihood of a record we suddenly we decide we want being out there somewhere! I was pretty confident with this one. 3

Your visiting Chapel Street Bazaar today got me visiting mine (the Vintage Bazaar) this afternoon and I found this: 10CC "Live And Let LIVE" Oz 1st pressing, 2 x LP, appears NM for $20. Will play it later this evening....after a movie of course! 7

Being Melbourne, there are record shops galore with crates to dig to your heart's content, and I managed to add a whole heap of titles to the collection in just 3 or 4 outings over the past week and a half. I have actually played them all in that time, and I'm happy to say they're all 'keepers' - although the Smokie compilation 'All The Best' remains elusive and now tops my 'holy grail' wants list! I won't resort to Discogs just yet - it's lurking out there somewhere, I know it! Bob Seger’s ‘The Distance’ is my favourite of his and I reckon it’s his finest hour. I have an original 1982 pressing, bought when it came out. 1

After lunch in Prahran I popped into Chapel Street Bazaar and dug into a few crates scattered around the joint, and lo and behold, look what I found! Both are Maxicuts and both records are NM (from different stalls). That was enough good fortune for me for one day, so I headed home wondering how I'd ended up being excited by an 80s Sir Cliff record (@ $18, incidentally), but my elation was justified when I played it later. It may be the best sounding Maxicut of them all - and depsite the unmistakably 80s production, it's a very listenable album all the way through, so a win on that one. As for Smokie - all's well that ends well is all I'm going to say about that, other than it being another really enjoyable, great sounding Maxicut marvel! The Smokie All the best was the my very purchase vinyl in late 70s when I was a late teen with 3 in 1 Grundig hifi system 2 2
Rustee Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 Picked up another Lenco. This one will be for my son. Will be a nice resto we can do together. 7
stevoz Posted March 14, 2024 Author Posted March 14, 2024 I am weak.....just now via Discogs, Foreigner "Records", a 'best of', NM Oz 1st pressing, die cut gatefold sleeve at a very reasonable price. 5

It's a killer album, and the opener ''Even Now' is Seger belting one out like only he (or Springsteen) can, full of that highly charged 'blue collar' emotional energy that is his trademark. Stirring stuff, and along with the live 'Hollywood Nights' from 'Nine Tonight' my joint favourite Bob Seger track. Side two is strong throughout as well. "She gets to me - somehow - Even now" 3

gasman1003 Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 (edited) A couple of simple, yet essential items arrived today: A new Thorens turntable belt and replacement cleaning fluid for my Flux HiFi Ultrasonic Stylus Cleaner. I quite like the much larger bottle of fluid and dropper, not cheap but lasts an awful long time. Edited March 14, 2024 by gasman1003 5
gasman1003 Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 (edited) This also arrived today. I buy virtually no singles, but when it's a new one by Martha I make an exception. gasman1003 Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 A pack of MoFi master sleeves and the new LP by the wonderful John Smith. 4
stevoz Posted March 22, 2024 Author Posted March 22, 2024 Saw @April Snow's post re: spinning this....I do love the title track, like love it and was convinced that it was on one of the Joan albums I already own...but no, it can't be, it's this albums title track......but it is so familiar to me. I have to have it, so Discogs offered me a bargain copy. My 10th Armatrading LP. Joan Armatrading "The Shouting Stage" NM German 1st pressing. 5 3
xtiva2000 Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 From Discogs AU - Glenn Gould playing Harpsichord 3 1
Almaz Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 (edited) This arrived on Friday. I don’t know what the consensus is about this MoFi pressing. To my ears it sounds like a success for MoFi. It never ceases to amaze me what a diamond tip running around the groves of a piece of round vinyl can produce. Great hobby, always learning every day, then you have nights like this. Valves are at a three hour glow, how good. Edited March 24, 2024 by Almaz 9 1
stevoz Posted March 25, 2024 Author Posted March 25, 2024 Just now via Discogs, Deep Purple "In Rock" NM 1970 German repress from an Aussie seller. Been wanting this for awhile now so it's about time. Also, today at Aldi.....absolutely nothing to do with music but @April Snow might be interested in buying one!: Apologies for photo size....and damn it, I can't find Wally in the crowd illustration on the actual mug! 2 4

stevoz Posted March 26, 2024 Author Posted March 26, 2024 (edited) I was driving past my local 'Vintage Bazaar' which was on my left earlier this afternoon and I knew I shouldn't be tempted to make that left turn and that I should instead turn right for home.....but of course I turned left! Ten Years After "The Classic Performances Of" Oz 1st pressing.....looks NM....$20. Excited by this one, will give it a listen tonight (after a movie of course!) Santana "Zebop!" Oz 1st pressing....also looks in very good nick. I've never heard this album but I do like Santana and at $10, I thought 'why not?'. Mastered at A & M by BG with lacquer cut by Aussie Tony Taurins at CBS Artarmon. Should sound nice. Edited March 26, 2024 by stevoz 1 2
