stevoz Posted April 18, 2024 Author Posted April 18, 2024 (edited) I got an offer for this LP today at work (so I may have been vulnerable) via my Ebay phone app.....after checking it out last night. It was $36 + free postage, which was pretty cheap but it's a new pressing, remastered and pressed by GZ (hit or miss) but the offer today was $33 and I thought 'that's cheap' and bought it. I had two NM Dutch reissues in my Discogs cart (each a lot more) after listening to the recently purchased bad copy of a Dutch reissue a few days ago....it was fantastic, super dynamic. I just hope this is as good! Edited April 18, 2024 by stevoz 5
Tony Cox Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 Here is my haul for Record Store Day today. Was missing that 'special someone' to share my excitement with this year, so here I am, sharing it anyway! The top row are all bona fide RSD 2024 releases - I managed to tick off 3 of the 4 I was looking for, with the other one (live Sweetheart of the Rodeo) possibly arriving next week. The bottom row were just nice pick-ups (Van reduced by 10%), although Taylor, never short of a money spinning ruse, had a limited number of special RSD messages printed up to go out with her new album for people who bought it today. Imagine being a Swifty completist who bought it yesterday on the day of release, only to find out they'd missed out on the special message! Life can be cruel. Anyone else had a bonzer RSD? 9 1
April Snow Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 (edited) RSD on the Gold Coast a bit of a sad affair today - only one store here participates and he hardly got anything anyone requested Very light on for RSD overall. I had four on my wish list - and he got none of them ........ He said he even ordered 20 copies of Bowie and got Zero !! So I had no need to get up early to line up this morning but I did go later in the morning to participate - I found a nice 80s Duran Duran maxicut. He did not even have Taylor Swift's new album, so I picked that up at JB HiFi this morning too - (so no Tay Tay RSD note as JB not allowed to participate) - JB had 20% sale off all their Vinyl for RSD but NOT for Taylor's album......the only one excluded. The girl that served me said even the staff complained about that "meanness" I noticed the RSD Brisbane store lists were similar - hardly anything for today So a lot of disappointed people today I think, this end of this Great Southern Land Edited April 20, 2024 by April Snow 6 2

Yes, that does sound disappointing. You may have to venture further afield next year! Not all the record shops in Melbourne participated, but those that did and publicised the fact well had massive queues outside. I arrived at Discrepancy Records at 7:50 this morning but the queue was round the corner and past the next block, so I jumped back in my car and headed back to the city (Melbourne) in time to snaffle the ones I was after (and the others) over several shops. Back home by lunch which I thought was pretty restrained, but now you've told me JB had 20% off I may just have to venture out for one last dig. FOMO fully triggered! blakey72 Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 Well this arrived yesterday and so far it is excellent. Does the job for not much coin ($495). 12
Hydrology Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 Very impressed with how affordable these brand-new Kraftwerk coloured re-issues were in Osaka (AUD$40), so, yes please!! 8 1

I go for a family holiday in December every year at Broadbeach and always pop in there to have a browse. Owner is a chill dude who likes a chat about music. Have picked up a couple of nice second hand records there over the years and a few new ones, but didn't bother going to any store for RSD this year. 1

I was not able to log on at 9am as I was in a work meeting but got on around 9.30 - so picked up one of the Titles but think they don't actually have it in stock just that they are expecting it - shipping maybe 6th May The other title I have put in a notification for ..... the other two I was on the fence with ........so decided to sit tight for now on those. Thank you for letting me know - such a shame they started it at 9am when many of us at work though ...........but happy to have got one hopefully secured

Yes it was............................and found out they are going to be moving even further down the Coast so leaving the spot they are in, which means RSD is going to be more challenging moving forward

I'm about to head out to Wah Wah records where I picked up the Lennon EP on Saturday. (It was the only one on the day, but he did say more may be coming in.) 1
dwbasement Posted April 22, 2024 Posted April 22, 2024 Bought a few records from this Hong Kong trip. 8
stevoz Posted April 25, 2024 Author Posted April 25, 2024 Checked a youtube vid on which is the best APP "I Robot" pressing because I had a NM Japanese pressing and a NM 1982 MFSL copy in my Discogs watchlist, both around the same price and wanted to know which one to buy. I have an Oz pressing which is really good but I want better. Bought neither.....dude said they were both good but lacked mid range (gutted of mid's, as he put it). The three best to him were the original UK pressing, the 2007 Classic Records 'Quiex SV-P' 200g Bernie Grundman remaster/lacquer cut and the 2016 45rpm MSFL Gain 2 remaster. Well, the latter two were at least $175 and well beyond that....so I went with a NM UK 1st pressing @ around $40. I'll see how it stacks up against the Oz pressing which uses the same Chris Blair mastering but has it's lacquer cut by Blair as well. Supposed to be super dynamic. Alan Parsons Project "I Robot" NM UK 1st pressing. Already in the watchlist from same seller (so postage discount for the second LP), America "History - Greatest Hits" NM German reissue (because it was really cheap). 8
gasman1003 Posted April 25, 2024 Posted April 25, 2024 (edited) Arrived today, the brand new one from this fine band. As always with these guys it's a very solid album. James - Yummy Virgin Music, Europe, 2024, NBLM003LP BW07384-01-A1-HL BW07384-01-B1-HL Edited April 25, 2024 by gasman1003 2

stevoz Posted April 27, 2024 Author Posted April 27, 2024 Just found this on Discogs at an impossible to ignore price, the Atomhenge box set of Hawkwind's "Warriors On The Edge Of Time", comprising LP Gatefold Album, CD Album, CD Remastered New Stereo Mixes by Steven Wilson, DVD Multichannel 5.1 Surround Mixes + New Stereo Mixes and Flat Transfer.....all NM. I have wanted this album on vinyl for ages, had two Oz 1st pressings on my Discogs watchlist at around $70 each but just found this complete set at $5 more. Snap! 4 3

It is an Aussie Band, recorded in Sydney and cut by Tony Taurins With Aussie artists I buy the Aussie pressings if they are recorded here nice and fresh off the master tapes Never been disappointed with any. Sorry your copy arrived so damaged though, that truly sucked Edited April 27, 2024 by April Snow 1 1

I didn't realise the Oz one was cut by Taurins though, maybe I should've waited a bit longer for a good local pressing. Oh well, fingers crossed the US pressing is ok. 1

It is a wonderful album - I am sure you will enjoy it & it did take a bit of time for me to hunt the Aussie one down too in NM condition. I actually got it off ebay - and was as described and well packed for shipping *whew* 2
