The Cure – Songs Of A Lost World.  This is the black vinyl Miles Showel master.  Will be interesting how it sounds vs the BG master. 🤔

Great song! Also 'Salesman' for it's utterly visceral bass, 'Drive She Said' and 'Camoflage' for great story telling.....the whole album is fantastic.

Camouflage got me into his catalog and I play Mosquitoes and Black Diamond regularly. I like the vignette songs that he is famous for like Mexican Radio.

Yes, played it last night but it's not great and also showing signs of hazing.....it sounded below par. Time for a new one.👍

Yesterday at my local 'vintage bazaar' at bargain prices:

Various 'Hard Knocks' OST to the 1980 Oz movie, Oz pressing. 18 songs squeezed onto this.....some classic Aussie tracks plus a few let downs, like Willaim Shakespear.🙄

Tears For Fears "I Believe (A Soulful Re-Recording)" 45rpm 12" EP......Oz pressing.

Saw @Ash76 spinning this....never heard of this band but something about the cover made me check it out.....and I quite like it. Found a brand new copy on ebay from a local seller much cheaper than anything on offer via Discogs.

Fountains Of Wayne "Traffic And Weather" 2022 RSD L/E reissue, US pressing.....on 'orange with black streaks' vinyl.😉

They're one of my all time  favourite bands. Sadly Adam Schlesinger, died of Covid in early April 2020 so no chance of them reforming but they are amazing power pop. Also this amazing album is arguably their weakest.

Yes, I read that about Adam.....quite tragic, only 53.

Their weakest? Well, I should check out the rest then.👍

I wish I knew about a lot of these bands being posted about. I have only been exposed to Ed Kuepper, Midnight Oil, Split Enz,  AC/DC, INXS, John Farnham, Ice House, Little River Band, Divinyls (stop touching yourself), Flash 'n the Pan, Easybeats, Vanda and Young and their offspring etc. Luckily our market here in Canada is open to other experiences and we still had to have content rules to protect homegrown talent and keep them at home instead of venturing south. The Tragically Hip made a pretty good living staying home when market penetration to the south didn't succeed. Did/do you have the same support or does being an island help?

I am sure others will chime in that know more but most of the Aussie talent seem to have to go overseas to make a living as not much support here locally with the live music scene in many places nearly being dead and festivals also dying. Many festivals here have been cancelled. Most of the big names seem to have to move. I had neighbours next to me who were the parents of "Wolf Mother" (Aussie band) and they had to move to Germany to make a living, Kylie Minogue when to UK & Tesky Brothers I think to US.

Our government no longer seems to support local talent or the arts so much.

In Melbourne they are more supportive but most places you are lucky if you can find a live band in a local pub these days.

But I think this is probably all a topic for a thread on it's own, not maybe in this  thread but I did want to reply with what I have noticed in my part of Oz.
