Have just hooked up a powered subwoofer using high level inputs as stereo is old and hasn't got subwoofer outputs.

There is sound coming from sub but not very loud.

The  high level inputs does say "Input 2 From Amplifier" does this mean that I need to run it through an external amplifier before the sub even though it is a powered subwoofer??

I tried the sub on a newer system with the low level input and the sub worked perfectly.

Any  advice would be much appreciated.

The specific brands/models of the components you are using would help, ie.. amp/speakers/subwoofer

I would've thought a powered sub would have RCA (line-level) inputs ... plus, it would have a LP filter (with a frequency knob) to roll the sub off at whatever frequency you select?  That's the way my (powered) subs work, anyway.

You have to connect your speakers to the 'Output To Speakers" on the subwoofer

Amp --> Input 2 --> Output To Speakers

Still the same. Is it possible that the "Input 2" bypasses the subwoofer amp and is just a straight through feed to the Sub speaker??

No, normally the high level input takes the whole range of frequencies from the amp, the sub then handles the low frequencies and the higher frequencies are sent to the speakers for processing. However this is only really effective if you are using full range speakers

Have you tried setting the high cut to 180Hz ?

What speakers are you using ?
