dwbasement Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 Train trip today, 100 yr old loco 3801. 4 pines at the pub before heading back. 8 1
NonPlayableCharacter Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 Last one of these. May as well have a look at it along with the ubiquitous bangers and mash tonight. Will set it aside and see what it shows like in a couple of hours and then make the decision to decant or not. 5 1
NonPlayableCharacter Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 I have been lazy. I catalogued the Hutton Vale delivery earlier this week but didn't actually rack it. Time for some sorting, shuffling and general poking around. 4 4
Mendes Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 (edited) Good night for some Italian Nebbiolo, stunning vino The vines in ‘Vigna Regina’ are planted in the most shallow, rocky part of the Sassella cru. As a result, the vineyard has the reputation of producing the most linear of the family’s wines. The wine is macerated for 35+ days stainless steel and it spends five years in a combination of large-format chestnut and oak barrels (40-50 hectoliter) Way up in the foothills of the Alps, about as far north as you can go in the Lombardy region of Italy without hitting Switzerland, a series of terraced vineyards hug the hillsides overlooking the river Adda. With the majestic snowcapped massif to the north, the narrow river valley to the south and centuries-old castles crowning hilltops for good measure, this wine zone, Valtellina, is strikingly beautiful. Monty Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 Nothing fancy (or feline) here, just sipping on $15 bubbles while prepping pizza. 7

2Brix Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 For a long time now, and particularly of late, i keep hearing "One Step this...", "One Step that..." yadda yadda yadda...well eventually, this morning, i decided to go out and buy one for myself and see what all the fuss was about. Now admittedly i was in a hurry and bought in haste and only when i get to looking carefully when opening it before dinner did i notice a significant distinction...Not One Step as i first read, but rather One Small Step. Somewhat taken aback i decided to forge ahead anyway...it was open, and a refund was out of the question. But you know what...it tastes good anyway. 5 4

(what I paid back in the Day)
chaddy Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 Oldies over for dinner so Macedon Pinot with Wild Boar Salami, Patricia Cab with Smoked brisket. 5 3
Midori Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 Kinda enjoyed this one with a Japanese omakase dinner. The mountai is pretty good pairing too, surprisingly. 8

NonPlayableCharacter Posted August 14, 2022 Posted August 14, 2022 Seared the beef and did the Yorkshire puddings earlier. Now about to pass the beef swiftly through a warm room and then carve. Whilst we wait for the beef to do a lap of a 40w light bulb, I'm getting stuck into Elderton 21 Greenock Semillon. Not sure what red the neighbours are bringing, but I have a fallback-position or two if need be.... 11

mwhouston Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 (edited) Staying in central Oz at Uluru and had a beer at the original Hotel/pub here. One from Byron Bay Brewing on tap. Didn’t expect much but was pleasantly surprised. Super light fluffy head and continuous fine bubbles. Very pleasant light refreshing taste. If this is the wrong thread let me know.
