2Brix Posted August 27, 2022 Posted August 27, 2022 12 minutes ago, tripitaka said: The Barbera any good? No complaints for the price paid ($17). Moderate nose, light mouthfeel, strong black currant, low tannin and tending to a acidic/dry finish (at least to my palate). 2 1

We did Kalamunda to Mundaring Weir Hotel along the Bibbulmun Track,a beautiful Perth day. Me and a mate from school days (I'm talking the sixties here) over from Pommerania did that walk just before covid bit. He actually caught the last flight out before the border closure. Great trek but I must have walked through a nest(?) of 'roo ticks and spent the next day being picked at by the misses! Great arrival destination too I looked every bit as knackered as you. I read this thread and am amazed at the dedication and willingness to spend such large amounts on something I am so disinclined to spend more than $15 a bottle on. It's not that I don't appreciate a nice(r) drop, nor do I think you lot are anything less than admirable in your good tastes. It's just so hit and miss for me, to spend $25 to >?? on something I then turn my nose up at would really pee me off, whereas a $<10 to 12 Merlot or Cab Merlot of whatever Aussie vinyard that has designed an eye-catching label and then quite nice or maybe not so nice, I'm not going to be too upset. - Troglodyte, I know. On a sojourn down to Denmark WA I bought a couple of bottles of Single File Shiraz that had me in raptures for $15-ish per bottle. Now I can't find it for less than $35 and am loathe to indulge myself. I am not worthy, the wife keeps telling me so! If I were to stretch my ever-so-tight purse to find $20.00 for an easy drinking red that's easy available (Danny's, BWS etc.) what would you canny-sewers recommend to this viniculturally challenged, taste-bud ruined, idle, tippler. (I was a member of Naked Wines for a while but very little of their cheaper stuff was drink-able.) 3 2

The hike was some training for the Cape to Cape we are doing in a couple of weeks, really excited for that one, doing it over six days. 6
Grimmie Posted August 27, 2022 Posted August 27, 2022 Wow now that's a hike worthy of the name, - perhaps YOMP would be more appropriate (for those with long memories) what kind of over-nighting will it be. Camping or accomodation. 6 minutes ago, Mendes said: The hike was some training for the Cape to Cape we are doing in a couple of weeks, really excited for that one, doing it over six days. An old favorite of mine for many decades on the left, and then, when it's bought as a present just the odd tipple every now and then. 5

eso Posted August 28, 2022 Posted August 28, 2022 Great idea to sleep comfortably in MR. Hot shower , good food and sleep makes a world of difference. Mates from Melbourne came over to walk Cape to Cape a few years back. I agreed to ferry them to drop and collect points every day. I could mountain bike most of the day then. The only condition was that we visited a winery on the way home after pickup. They did the Cape to Cape and I did the Grape to Grape 1 2
Mendes Posted August 28, 2022 Posted August 28, 2022 Dedicated to those who love the grape and everything it offers us. 2 3
