Mr_Gadget Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 Hi guys, here are a couple of photos of my Equinox Aphelions. Mine are the ones on the right (in both photos). They are currently on their way from NSW and I should have them in the next couple of days. The veneer is a Jarrah in a semi-gloss. Each file is about 0.5MB in size.

hired goon Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 G'day, The Aphelions look très bon, Mr Gadget, and I can imagine how excited you must be to finally get them. I am of course v. jealous that you are getting yer mains before I am I heard the old Aphelions with different drivers, so I would be very interested in a review of the sound of the new speakers. --Geoff
Spearmint Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 So Mr G. how are your new speakers performing? Are you happy with the finish you selected?
Drizt Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 So Mr G. how are your new speakers performing? Are you happy with the finish you selected? [/b] Yes I had forgotten about this, three days should be enough time for you to enjoy them, and then find a few minutes to peel yourself away long enough to write a bit of a review. Hows it all going? Mr G, just curious, but in the first photo it looks like there are two matching pairs (the two on the left and the two on the right) but in the second pic it looks like one speaker from each pair has been pictured? Are these the two that you are getting? And did you deliberately choose one from different pairs? My Interludes are made from different wood veneers, and I like how they are different (some don't), i was just curious if it was an intentional decision.

[/b] i believe he said his are the right in each photo, so the one with the 4 his are the pair on the right, and the one with the pair, his is the single one on the right. This is how i read it anyways

Mr_Gadget Posted September 15, 2006 Author Posted September 15, 2006 So Mr G. how are your new speakers performing? Are you happy with the finish you selected? [/b] They perform great, no complaints there and I am very happy with the finish. I'll try and do a review soon. Unfortunately there was a bit of cosmetic damage to one of the speakers so these will be swapped for another pair when they are ready. i believe he said his are the right in each photo, so the one with the 4 his are the pair on the right, and the one with the pair, his is the single one on the right. This is how i read it anyways [/b] You are correct. I should also add that I haven't noticed any difference between the drivers in this model compared to the old Audax models. I know some have been concerned about this. Also i have not felt the need to use my sub with 2 channel music, they produce amble bass on their own. Glad I didn't go for the Perigrees, there is no need for them in my room and I would never hear the end of it from my wife. So overall I am very happy with them just a shame they were damaged somewhere between NSW and my place

Bummer about the damage though, but good on Rick for replacing them, and a bonus you get to use these ones in the mean time.
Guest JohnA Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 its a shame about the damge, but at least you have them and can enjoy them until they are replaced. Thats good service with Rick, as the biggest problem with shipping is arguing over whos fault the damage was. Have heard so many horrow stories, so what i do now when i have something shipped, is before i sign for it, i get them to unpack in for an inspection, and then once 100% satisfied do i sign for them. Last thing you need is them trying to blame you, you blaming the shipping mob and back and forth with no results.

[/b] I will be lodging a claim with the freight company, but they've actually been very good in the past, as this is the first evidence of any mishandling. Regardless of whether the freight company come good with the claim, I believe that should not concern the customer at all, so the only right thing to do is supply a new replacement ASAP. It's what I would expect. Rick.

The Vic agent that delivered them to me told me about the damage before he gave them to me. Yes Rick has been great to deal with, the only negative is the long turn around time. Maybe some acoustic foam should be included in the packaging and as a bonus you then but it straight onto the wall to dampen the room
Drizt Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Maybe some acoustic foam should be included in the packaging and as a bonus you then but it straight onto the wall to dampen the room [/b] hehe... nice. Good business sense not to make customers wear the costs and not to mention the moral and right thing to do. Thumbs up. (regarding the replacement of the damaged speakers)
Mr_Gadget Posted September 15, 2006 Author Posted September 15, 2006 I think my last post came out wrong. I was not implying that I want some acoustic foam with my new pair when it comes. It was more of a joke.
mgrobins Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 THey look great Mr G . I was impressed with them when I had the demo set at my place and they have nothing on the final prduct cosmetically . Rick seems to do an awesome job.
Drizt Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Hi Mr G, just curious as to how they are going, and if your replacements have been delivered ?
