stevoz Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 (edited) Last night, post movie: New arrival, Forenzics (Tim Finn and Eddie Rayner of Split Enz) "Shades And Echoes", brand new Oz and NZ release, German (Optimal) pressing. Beautiful album, almost ethereal/dreamy in it's songwriting and performance approach. To hear those 'shades and echoes' of existing Enz music was really fantastic....I totally enjoyed it. Also a new arrival, Stan Ridgeway "The Big Heat" NM Dutch 1st pressing to replace my Oz pressing, which while still ok, has seen better days. I was slightly disappointed in this....it is not as dynamic as my Oz pressing (which has an CBS, Artarmon lacquer cut and was pressed there as well). The bass on 'Salesman' didn't go as low, in fact, I was suss right from early in song one that this pressing was lacking somewhat on the Oz one. Have already returned to Discogs and snared a NM Oz pressing to replace this and will give the Dutch one to my brother (and my old Oz pressing to a 20 year old, vinyl loving workmate.....bless her old soul!). Another new arrival, Romeo Void "Benefactor" NM Dutch 1st pressing. Now this Dutch pressing had dynamics in spades.....and it's a great album! Very happy. Why weren't this band bigger? We'll never know. Edited December 16, 2024 by stevoz 6

stevoz Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 Last night, post movie: the first three are recent local bazaar purchases, all were post glue clean. Eurogliders "Groove" 12" 33rpm EP Oz pressing....sounded wonderful. Wa Wa Nee "Sugar Free" 12" 45rpm single Oz pressing.....blissfully dynamic. Sky "Sky 3" Oz 1st pressing.....not physically perfect but still sounded damn good. Recent Discogs purchase, Romeo Void "Instincts" Dutch 1st pressing.....fantastic SQ. 4
