"Pieces of Eight" and "The Grand Illusion" are 2 of my fav albums..

Back then I was into prog rock but radio was still king

What was not purchased we heard on the radio waves so I am familiar with many artists from the radio

Don't  tell anyone but what we did like we taped it

Just thought I would share a test video to highlight the difference between original Vinyl Records  and CD frequency range

This may also apply to remastered new vinyl releases

@Zen Mister

Ooooh Whooooo another BOC fanboy

Many a time I have contemplated getting a tattoo of images that were on record covers

But sanity prevailed and I only have one that the boys at high school gave me

If I have the urge I may also play some Uriah Heep

I saw them at Monsters of Rock 81 or 82 can't remember....lol

Always loved this band !

I mentioned on another thread that in my youth I was a bit of a twinkle toes and participated in ballroom dancing

I will post just a small sample of my dance record titles

They form a dual purpose for me

1) As test records

2) As happy memory records that get me up to dance

Musically they are pitch perfect and tone perfect, making them great test or turntable set up records

Now don't pigeonhole me - because I love all forms of dance

Just remember the music is the lead and actions follow

So that makes me

A Prog rock, Alice Cooper loving, metal head with a love for ballroom dancing

So next time you are in a used record shop or op shop look for good examples and try one out as a test record just for fun ;)

I also love it and I only purchased my vinyl copy a couple of weeks ago

Just for some extra info regarding the making of the album So I cam accross this video that explains how this album was put together from bits of ideas that Peter Gabriel put down on cassette tape

I'm sure many members have heard of Jean Luc Ponty

I use lots of his music as backing sounds on my holiday videos I make when we return

As an example track 2 The Art Of Happiness reminds me of bustling Melbourne and was used as that from a recent trip

Artist - Jean Luc Ponty

Title - Cosmic Messenger 1978

ID - SD 19189

Jazz Fussion

Great SQ and a lovely album

This young lady has a great set of pipes and has been a favourite of many at one point in time

This record is simply superb in the sense of tone and voice control

I'm speaking of Linda Ronstadt

Artist - Linda Rondstadt with Nelson Riddle and his Orchestra

 Title - For Sentimental Reasons

I'm fairly sure that not many members would have this superb album in their collection but should

While the wife is watching cooking shows on TV I'm listening to music

Don't get me wrong as I love eating nice food - but overly stretched out cooking shows are not my cup of tea

I had this album in storage - along with other records that have damaged covers but the vinyl is still great

Been a long time, over 30 years has passed since I played it last

Artist - Nektar

Title - Remember The Future

Think of a mix between Yes and Genesis in prog rock style

John Lennons last album release in his lifetime with Yoko Ono

Its been said that after a 5 year exile John Lennon spent those years in domestic bliss, being a husband, raising a baby, and baking bread.

In reality this is 2 albums in 1 -  Two artists with seperate styles and tracks stitched together in alternate drops

Artist - John Lennon & Yoko Ono

Title - Double Fantasy

Yes, Janis is one of my favourites, and I have always loved Robert Crumb's artwork, which was popular when I was a kid. Although it wasn't usually what you'd call appropriate for kids... LOL

Keep on truckin'

When I bought My Jethro Tull Thick as a Brick at 19 (1973), I did the same thing, except it was a 10 page newspaper complete with news, ads, crossword, and a dot to dot drawing.
