Nearly, the Power Cup bikes were K1200R’s. I also had for a year or so a BMW a K1200LT with all the fruit, it was a nice bike for a long ride and as long as you only rode at 100kph you could hear the stereo as clear as if the bike was parked, mind you the stereo was that loud when turned up that it used to scare drivers when you rode past them. ... cheers, Terry Edited October 13, 2020 by TerryO 1

For what it is worth I to would have picked the R1200T over the K1300S, while HP is a good thing as I get older I feel like it is more a liability than asset, that is why I purchased some years ago MT-01's, you feel like your doing 200 clicks at 120kph. cheers, Terry 1

My KTM 990 SM/T was like that, anything over 160 km/h and you felt like you'd blow off the back of it. Complete opposite to the RT Edited October 13, 2020 by pwstereo 1
Pegasus Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 (edited) 1993 BMW K1100RS. "Broom Hilda". Named so as she has a fat arse (the panniers are the widest point on the bike). I bought her 25 years ago from Rob Duncan of Motohansa fame. Shot taken at Mt. Kosciuszko car park. It was minus 7 degrees in April!. Thank God for the BMW heated grips and the BMW heated vest that I was wearing that day. Edited October 14, 2020 by Pegasus typo. 2 1
DRC Posted November 24, 2021 Posted November 24, 2021 Nearly dead thread.... Better post something. Not my actual bike, but I had a mint blue/white GSXR-750F not long after they came out. loved it, it was my first big boys motorcycle. I was 18 at the time, and probably lucky to have survived that era. 2
barbz127 Posted November 24, 2021 Posted November 24, 2021 1986 Yamaha SRX600 that's recently been rebuilt by my father and in law and myself. And my now ex Suzuki GSX1400. Riding less and less so hard to justify keeping two toys in the garage. 2 1

Damn, always been high on my list to sell up and move to the fleurieu, any decent roads out that way for a ride though? Edited November 24, 2021 by Hatzi
Hatzi Posted November 24, 2021 Posted November 24, 2021 Sold her for renovations and fatherhood... Boring I know. Miss that lazy torque and surprisingly decent handling (albeit tweaked). Others along the way, im actually filling the bike void with hifi for now.... 2

I meant it as a serious question from someone who has seen a bit of SA but doesnt know the good twisty bits and who is thinking to move there one day. Ive always done those long boring drives out to the yorke and eyre peninsulas. Have been to the hills but not too familiar with the surrounding area. SA great! Cant wait to go back.

McLaren Vale is in the Hills, and is one of my favourite drives (sold the Moto Guzzi and bought a Porsche Boxster, so no riding any more). There are fine rides from Cape Jervis in the southern Fleurieu and all the way up to the Barossa Valley (almost 200 km) and approximately 80 km wide all the way. Twisties, curves, hills, valleys, and some nice straights too. I've been riding and driving the area for fun for at least 20 years and am still discovering new roads. 2
cafe67 Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 (edited) This was my 2007 Ducati sport classic biposto. Mods included termignoni pipes, 5 spoke alloys from Ducati monster s4r, forks from Ducati st4s, front brakes from Ducati 748, high comp pistons, custom Ohlins steering dampener. Went like stink and sounded awesome. long n low, how cafe racer should be Edited November 27, 2021 by cafe67 9 1
Ray H Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 So, I’m itching to get back into it. Used to ride litre sports bikes 15 years ago, now too old and broken for pure sports bikes. But Voila the new kid on the block…..Hyper Nakeds…… So I have had a test ride of the Ducati Streetfighter, the Aprilia Tuono V4 and the Yamaha MT-10 SP. head says next years MT-10 SP, but heart so wants the Tuono, what a bike, engine, auto blipper and sound are sublime, just worried about reliability and servicing on it. The streetfighter has 208 hp !!!, but just not as refined as the Aprilia, and probably even more expensive for overall ownership cost. Pics of the tested bikes below. Also need to ride the KTM Super Duke R and BMW S1000R. 2

Ratbob Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 (edited) I’ve been chugging around on Harley’s since the 70’s. Other bikes too, Suzuki, Triumps, Ducatis, Yams etc but all old school. These fabulous new sports bikes would kill me. Pics of project and current ride. @Ray H yes the Yam is the sensible option but sometimes the heart wins, go the Aprila. Redbook Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Sold one of these to a mate years ago,he still has it. Going to visit this weekend and take the old girl for a blast. 2
FNQ Outcast Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 How come I've never seen this thread before!! I'll add mine to the mix... I've had rather a few bikes over the 40 years of riding... this is my current one... 2014 Indian Chieftain, she now has white walls & a shorter, scooped screen... probably time I took a new photo... Now, I'm gonna scoot back through this thread & admire the machines 5
Ray H Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Ended up here, only 600klm so far, but pretty happy, it’s a torque monster. 3 1
FNQ Outcast Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Well, that was a rather wonderful 30 page trip down memory lane... some wonderful machines in those pages... So, my 40yr journey... Learned to ride on a very beaten up old Z9, which I subsequently destroyed... after that came Honda VT250F (courtesty of a lost licence in WA which forced me back on to a restricted licence) Honda VF1000F Honda NS400R (scariest bike I've ever owned) Kawasaki KLR 250 (my only foray onto dirt bikes... that was fun) BMW R65 BMW K100RS Ducatic 900SS (89 model, fun and very flickable at speed, absolute pig at city speeds & boy did that bike not like Canberra winters) bit of a hiatius from bikes whilst we raised a child & something about throwing the Duc down the road when your wife is 6 months pregnant... LOL Return to bikes against wife's wishes & bit of a banged up body from 28 year military career plus a few getoffs saw me move to cruisers... HD 1200 sportster custom (faaark, these things don't stop very well) HD Road King HD Nightrod Special Now the Indian... I'll have to see what photo's I can dig out & scan to put up here... 1

FNQ Outcast Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Photos, photos, photos for a trip down memory lane... Sadly, I can't find any pics of the two Bimmers or the Z9... I'm sure I would have taken some but, buggered if I can find them... To be honest, the Z9 really wasn't worthy of photos so, maybe not on that score... As purchased & then modded a little below... 3

You are right, it’s too powerful really, given I have not ridden for over ten years. Im kind of glad you have to keep the Rpm below 6500 for the run in and I have kept it in road and tour mode rather than sport mode, it’s nice to know the power is there though. 1
