I'm super excited to be planning a fabulous get-together for the upcoming WA March public holiday and would love your input on how to elevate the ambiance with some fantastic music. Let's make this gathering an unforgettable experience with grape juice! I know I've invaded your place once or twice before but would love to fill a chair again too. Are we talking Labour Day or Good Friday?

brodricj Posted February 20 Posted February 20 The vino snatchers can deal with all his grape juice and then he'll be free to place an order for M7. I'm not sure of the logic of that but that's my theory. I don't think there are any M7 owners in Perth yet, somebody needs to lead the way.

As a Magico owner I respect the latest Magico speakers, incl: the M7. But at the current Australian msrp, they're not good value. Personally I plan to go in the opposite direction when I build my new system, which will include high efficiency speakers bought direct from the manufacturer and flea powered valve amps. 5

I'm in Shanghai and walking through the L+ shopping mall yesterday I saw a pair of ladies black sandals on display for $1000+ that I might buy in K-Mart for $20. Except for the brand name. That to me is not a good value proposition. But somebody will buy them, just not me. Yeah, the sales model for Magico in Australia changed with the change in distributor and that resulted in price increases across the range. I'm glad I got onboard when I did (I've owned five pairs), and I'm glad my Magico's are still current models (A3, ACC, M3 except for my S-Sub which now has a Mk2 version). I'm in no hurry to sell them. 2

I'm in no hurry to sell them. My S5s continue to impress as a remarkable set of speakers, delivering exceptional value in terms of price versus performance. In light of recent models and rising price tags, I've struggled to reconcile the deep appreciation for audio quality with the tendency for some to flaunt their possessions. 2
mwhouston Posted March 2 Posted March 2 In my all DIY system a 71a preamp and EL3N power amp. Not a combo Ive tried before but did some tweaking to the 71a to get it quieter and had have a good long listen. The combo is very open sounding. 11

I have 12” Beyma concentrics - 98db efficient - for my low power tube amps but daily speakers are 12” woofer and horns for 93db efficient. 1

The Zu's aren't that efficient but they sound really good with my Black Ice tube amp with EL34 power tubes. 3

I have some transformers that came out of an old Rogue Audio Model 100 power amp but don't know their ratings. 1
