DazzS Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Would one of those removalist blankets from bunnings do the trick? 2
Grimmie Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 great idea but a bit ugly. 50mm foam from Clark rubber covered with a nice cloth (from Temu or Spotlight) like below (except that's Autex Acoustic 50 sound panel) bend a couple of hooks to fit over the top of the screen and into the foam out of plastic covered metal clothes hangers, - much prettier and more effective. 4

russell66 Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Listening to this old Thorens 166 mk2 tonight. I think the tonearm is a TP11 perhaps. Absolutely wonderful. There’s a reason people don’t do blind test with turntables. Yes they may sound different, but is that really better? 13
April Snow Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 I just use 2 x Black fleece blankets from Kmart - I layer them over my TV - as they are black they do not look ugly (no different to a TV screen turned off) and they are light weight enough not to put too much weight on the TV Brackets on the wall. They are effective. And cheap as chips. Also I can fold up and put in the cupboard when not in use. They do make a difference when playing music. 9
dwbasement Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Made some room to fit the dac and cassette player under the amps. 21 2

mwhouston Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 With half a dozen recently finished DIY tube preamps and power amps I have plenty of combos to try out. Here “Elements” - Gold Lion 12AX7 SRPP preamp and “retro-Zen” EL84 power amp combo. Not combo I’ve tried before. On a short listen could be in-system for a while. http://retro-thermionic.blogspot.com/2024/10/retro-zen-decware-inspired-6bq5el84.html http://retro-thermionic.blogspot.com/2024/07/elements-12ax7-srpp-preamp-with-remote.html 11

blakey72 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 (edited) My busy loungeroom/system/systems.. So the Focal Aria 936's handle 2 channel driven by the Exposure Classic XXVII dual monoblock and Exposure 2010S2 as a pre. The Whatmough's beside, middle and rear HT. Driven by the Marantz SR5013 with the fronts running through the Plinius 9200 ht bi-pass. Takes some pressure off the Marantz. The Pro-ject X2 B and Pro-ject Phonobox DS3 B are actually a balanced connection and the noise floor is crazy. Rose Hifi RS250 streamer does everything I want and sounds spot on. Droplet cd player well what can I say. The Aurex PC-X88AD isn't too shabby either and gets some use. That filled in a bit of time listening to Brothers in Arms PS - oh dear, yes that's myself and my lovely Mrs in the pic on the Marantz. I'm the one with the rough head! mwhouston Posted January 2 Posted January 2 When your main listening area is the lounge, neatness is like hiding, hiding gear that is. 1 2
April Snow Posted January 2 Posted January 2 (edited) I have all my gear besides the turntable in cabinetry - I hate seeing "boxes" - I only want to see the Turntable My family already think I am crackers as it is with acoustic panels up But my setup is also in the main living area so I like it neat, if I had a dedicated room I would do otherwise 100% I love the look of a good rack Edited January 2 by April Snow 7 4
