Don't forget to add Naim Radio to your listening list. They have 2 options, main mix and jazz, both lossless and excellent recordings as you would expect from Naim. Hit me up for the url if you need to manually input it.

Yes, I listen to that, and also Linn radio

Evil C (retin) put me onto it a few years back and it's great. They have some bad days of course and if you listen as often as I do you'll here some rotation going on but I've discovered a lot of new artists there.

One thing you wont hear is new Australian artists but if you like old ones like the Oils, Ivor Davies  the Church and Crowded you know who, then you'll hear them quite often.

Not a lot of British stuff but for easy on the ear stuff it's hard to beat.

Oh, and for all the non Roon, non Foobar, non Poweramp ect people who perhaps rely on old faithfull VLC like me, well no need to do anything as it's just sitting there in the 'Icecast' Radio directory.

VLC has a list of literally thousands and I stop counting after a while and just did a search in the app and up pops Radio Paradise in more than one guise too.

I just saw this- Evil C ! That’s not Clive L ( well known Sydney muso ) is it? I couldn’t work out how to search for a member

Unfortunately RP (all 4 genres) and Naim ( both genres) have a limited repeat cycle and I'm bored with the repetition. Why they don't change their playlist more frequently is beyond me and it is now downgraded to elevator music. However Frequence3 World  Music is a breath of fresh air. Great programming new wide ranging format to keep me interested and a very big repeat cycle that I haven't yet found the overlap.

Has the gapless playback only just started, or have I not been paying attention all this time?

Think it has always been like that?  The transitions are very well done.

JB Radio Toronto always drops out at the end of each song? I then have to kick start it again, every time on both devices in two separate systems. (volumio on RPi)

So I've found myself streaming RP most days, even while just working away in the office. They just seem to get it.

Same, been listening to it for a couple of years now, mentioned it on SNA a few times, not paying streaming companies for music, though I do donations to RP and no ads at all.

I have it on all day every day for me "Mellow Mix" (flac quality), and yes they do they get it right, even the next song seems to lead in from the previous one "emotionally/tunefully", even though from completely different artists.

When I hear something I want to own the album of for the "man cave's big system", I go look for the least compressed CD issue of it on DRDB, then buy it used on Gumtree or eBay used for around $5.

Cheers George

would love to hear more Aussie music on RP.

Submit what you want to hear on it, and they review it and "maybe " then start playing it.

I did it with an Aussie band called "Big Wheels"

agree, RP gets it right with their mixes. I listen mostly to their Main Mix in FLAC, in the car and at home every day. Have donated a couple of times and probably about time I did it again.

It’s a terrific station to discover new and old music, I screenshot the artist and then listen to more of them on a streaming service, and sometimes buy the album.

Thanks @georgehifi your post prompted me to make another donation to RP.

Radio Paradise reminds me of Double J when it became Triple J.
No commercial interests, just playing great music.

Some here might remember in the early days of Triple J when the Announcers had full control of their playlist, that was when they were at their best.

At one point they were the only station in the world to be playing NWA - F the Police. I remember it always ended with the station taken off air for some time, so all you had was silence.

Not long after this I think the ABC decided not to let the Announcers program their own music and from there it’s been a steady decline in my opinion.

Agreed.

2JJ (at night off a long-wire antenna) and early JJJ were really good.

Current Double J on DAB/TV/Internet Radio is still OK.  I listen to that & SBS Chill when I'm up in the Wimmera visiting Mum.

On the odd occasion I tune in to JJJ these days, I find the music relatively dull and the banal banter and overuse of listener's messages off-putting.

Another feature of RP that is much appreciated is that you can skip a track if you don't like it.

Not sure how many other internet radio stations have that feature.

Listening to this for a couple of years had no idea that you could do that, not that I ever needed to 99.9% of the time, but it's handy now to know for that .1% that doesn't do it for you.

Hi Neo

I don't know anything about Naim ndx, but look at

https://radioparadise.com/listen/stream-links

you can select the channel (main/mellow/rock/global) and the bitrate (probably FLAC or FLAC+metadata for hifi listeners) and it will show you the URL.

with any luck you are able to paste or copy the link into your streamer?

Looking at the Naim site it mentions "vTuner 5* full-service internet radio" but I don't know what that is - I use a Bluesound streamer and it has integrated Radio Paradise (both FLAC and MQA so you can choose one or the other or compare them etc.).

hth and cheers

Success? Description reads eclectic rock. Not keen on that, is there a single RP station?

I mainly listen to the mellow mix.

There are 4 channels:

Your screen shot show "Main Mix" which I understand is a combination of the other three.  Also you are on a 320kb stream so lossy, but high quality lossy.

Only you can determine which channel is your preferred type of music and whether the 320kb is "good enough".

cheers
