Hey guys. Looking for opinions on using dropbox for business use? I currently have a personal account which I share with a couple of staff for ease of use on iPads compared with accessing our MS server for storing documents/photos etc.

I currently make a periodic copy of my dropbox folders and copy them to the server as a physical backup. Is dropbox secure enough to use for a small business with the backups they provide? I have a IT repair business who are pushing me towards a cloud based system they use but more expensive probably because they get a cut of some description. I don't have much in the way of critical documents to store, as my databases are backed up by their software providers.

I'm also told because my needs are basic (remote access to 2 databases from Mac desktops or laptops) I could probably get away with a PC which can be configured to allow server like "remote desktop" functionality. We currently have 1 critical database and a server that is approaching end of life so need to make some decisions on this pretty soon.

I've found dropbox for business excellent. Changed to it from Box (stay away from this product) in 2013 and haven't looked back. We run a business with branches in Brisbane and Perth and a total of 18 users on desktops, laptops, iPads - both using a mix of Win7, Win10 and OSX. No issues at all. Cost is around $2k per year so much cheaper than local file servers.

I think our space is around 18TB so I use it for the company, but also have a personal section where it automatically backs up my entire music collection.

Feel free to PM an questions you have about roll out ect.

Cheers,
Cam
