Got these little suckers recently.
Going to give them a full refurb.
Loving listening to them for now until I start stripping them.
@Grizzly is sourcing some new brass plates. @Bill125812 has supplied a bunch of wire to redo the internals.
@Sub Sonic has also supplied some very rare Duntech goodies and the cabinets will be handled by myself. Aranmar are replacing the grill cloth.
@frednork was kind enough to let me pry them out of his hands. I’ll be sure to treat them well!
Such great folks we have here!

I thought these were Crown Prince's not Princess' (not that they sound any different).

I can see you keeping these till the end mate. Well done and I am genuinely jealous.

These are the Princess. Not the ones you’re thinking of. The Crown Princes will be coming to listen to while I refurb these 😉

 Hope the refurb goes splendidly

Thanks mate! A little nervous to strip the lacquer but been watching YouTube non-stop and had some good advice from woodworking type people.
The ME 850 is doing well. I might grab a 1400 if one comes up one day when I get back on the black

Does that mean @frednork will need to find a new picture for his avatar? 😉

Congrats on the score and welcome back @Jakeyb77_Redux Do you still have the red 'Yammies'?

Hey mate. Thank you. Yeah still got them and also some Magnepan LRS. I can’t wait to have them all set up with a collection of amps to enjoy. They all do different things but if I had to live with one pair it would be a tough shootout with the Princess and the JBL. But I love the Yammies and the Magnepan when playing more subdued music.

@Jakeyb77_Redux good to see you’re enjoying your gear 🙂

Just curious about what you think of the Magnepan LRS? Maggie’s are something I’ve never listened to but have always kind of fascinated me for some reason… I did look into some of the smaller ones years ago.

Hey SS,

I’ve only played the LRS for a short while in my small room with a not so great set up.
They surprised me with how great they sound. They played louder than I expected for start and they just disappear. It’s a beautiful, natural sound with a wide soundstage. I’m really looking forward to playing them again as they intrigue me in the way they just produce this music without a pin point source if you know what I mean. A bit like the Duntechs in the way it’s like listening to a live show and the instruments come from all around and you forget there are two speakers there.

Looking forward to seeing these finished. Any chance you could post updates of the cabinet refurb process?

Hey, not sure what's happening to my notifications as it didn't notify me of your reply. In any case I'm glad to hear you still got your NS-1000m as I also still have mine 😉

Not sure if anyone in SA is interested, but I am about to get rid of a stack of original driver spec sheets that came from Duntech.

Includes specs for Dynaudio, Morel, Audax, Vifa, Peerless, Scanspeak etc. Many of these can be found online but some are hard to find or are not available online.

If anyone is interested, please let me know via PM, there is no cost, but also no postage sorry…

Cheers,

I had the very good fortune to spend an evening listening to the new Princess (same model as in the post above) driven by an Emotiva class D power amp.

My DIY Faital 3wc are a very nice speaker, i'm no expert or critical listener, but they provide a large sound scale, and a good range from highs to lows.  I'm very pleased with them.

The Princess are in a different league altogether.  There's zero bloom in the bass, you get what is recorded.  So they can sound leaner in the bass department, but that's only because they're so fast, and when there's bass, they keep it clean and go as low as they need to.

Mids and treble, you just feel closer to the recording artist, that's the only way i can describe it, the clarity and lack of distortion are impressive.  I found i had no idea how loud they were playing because the sound is so clean, zero fatigue.

End game speaker for sure.
