Item: FOCAL MINI UTOPIA SPEAKERS (piano gloss)   WITHDRAWN FROM SALE
Location: MELBOURNE
Price: $3500 (over $12K when new with stands)
Item Condition: GOOD
Reason for selling: Upgrading (& reducing my HiFi 'componentry')
Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Bank Transfer, COD (upon personal delivery within Melb)

Extra Info:

I am parting with my Focal Mini Utopias; arguably one of the finest standmounds ever made. Had them since new and have never really ceased to be mesmerised by their astounding musicality.  That's why my ' incurable upgrade itch' turned out to be quite a challenging and prolong exercise which involved more than a year of extensive auditioning of a number of highly acclaimed speakers (many in excess of $10K - $15K and even higher territory).

The speakers are in good condition cosmetically (few small marks here and there, really only noticeable  upon a close-up inspection) and are absolutely perfect functionally. The matching Focal stands are included. I also have the original boxes and owners manual.

Given the considerable weight (and the number of boxes) I would very much prefer a local pick up (would also consider delivering in person if within Melbourne region).

Happy to answer any relevant questions via PM.

Richard

The owner is 100% correct a magnificent speaker -better than the single driver ones that followed . My favorite JM Labs speaker and if the owner was local i would purchase in a heartbeat . You very lucky people from Melbourne run !

Used to love these and preferred the ti-oxide tweet to the beryllium. One of the best Focals made. Works of art at 3.5k.

P.S. Tweeters can be really revealing if you have slightly hard sounding gear.

Damn Richard, would have loved to hear these in your system, the other speakers you showed me must be something very special to beat the utopias. Great seller guys, true gentleman.

Can't believe you're offering them this cheap. I wouldn't let mine go for HEAPS more than that. IIRC the stands were over a $1000 by themselves!

A whole order of magnitude again over what you'd normally expect from $3.5k, that's for sure!

May I ask what amplifier you were using with these?

Thanks.

Hi, I experiment with a number of amps; currently I am using AM Audio 805 SE mono blocks (Single Ended Class A amplification), which to my ears sounds really nice indeed... (Prior to  that I have used for quite some time a pair of Consoance 845s mono blocks, also a nice match. In the past I also found that solid state can also sound good (although I admit to have developed fetish for tubes), in which case I used to own Mark Levison 331 power amp.

Regards,

Richard

Hi, yes appreciate your recognition of the value; I have priced them quite low indeed for hopefully a speedy/easy/local sale.
