nicksta Posted September 1, 2003 Posted September 1, 2003 Hi all, Are there any users out there besides me who have coupled the QTR2140 with the Panasonic AE300 as yet? The problem I have encountered is, no matter whether I input the source via component or VGA I cannot get the output to completely fill my 16:9 fixed screen. When using either of these inputs, regardless of rear panel switch configuration I am presented with a great quality picture but with a roughly 1 inch black boarder top and bottom and a half inch boarder left and right on a 16:9 broadcast such as ch9's HD loop. Yet, when playing a anamorphic DVD via component I get a perfect full screen picture. The only way I have been able to get a full screen is by running Svideo or RCA inputs which of course are far from perfect as they are only 576 not 1080 in resolution. 'DVDUSER' states his HS10 displays the QTR in full screen in HD with no black area's regardless of input type. I would expect the Panasonic AE300 to have the same result as the LCD panels on this project are designed to give a perfect 2:1 downsample of the 1080 resolution. Am I missing something or is my set top stuffed? The only thing left to try is to convert the RGB output of the STB to SCART into the project and see what I get, but in my mind the component outputs should be full screen also. Thanks in advance, Nick.
Colin1503559538 Posted September 8, 2003 Posted September 8, 2003 I also have an AE300. You mention a SCART input to your projector? Did I mis-read? My AE300 does not have scart. try calling the Panasonic Australia technicalk assistance: I have found them fairly good......or send an Email to their tech advice centre, slow response but good. While here, let me paste a post I just did on another forum.....and as you seem to 'know about this stuff' you may have an answer: ========================================== am receiveing Thai FTA TV using a Arion AF 3000E Satellite digital receiver. I use a composite RCA cable to connect to my Panny AE300 projector...and the pic is not at all good. The connectors at the back of the STB has 3 SCART connectors for TV, VCR and Accessory. Now, I assume that there is some way to get a digital pic out of these and in to my Panasonic, but what do I need to get? My Panny has inputs for Component, Composite, S-Video and some multi pin inputs that I assume are for PC's. (Grey matter is leaking from my ears as I strain my knowledge bank on stuff like this). All replies appreciated and read with much enthusiasm. ============================================== In another thread, I posed the question on AE300 low lamp life, which gave excellent and accurate responses..... I am most intersted , as I plan to get a Panny HD box.... Regards Colin
nicksta Posted September 8, 2003 Author Posted September 8, 2003 I also have an AE300. You mention a SCART input to your projector? Did I mis-read? My AE300 does not have scart. No you didn't misread, I am my friend both have a SCART connection on our AE300 projectors along with VGA, componenet, RCA, svideo and DVI. The SCART connection is also know as the AV1 connection. However, regardless of that, I checked my manual and the SCART input on the AE300 is not a AA rated picture input, I can only get SD by this connection method, so it doesnt help me:( try calling the Panasonic Australia technicalk assistance Yeah, I have already done that. It turns out that its not the STB but the AE300 itself and it may well be a design oversight, although this is yet to be confirmed. Panasonic are now going into a test cycle to confirm it. I use a composite RCA cable to connect to my Panny AE300 projector...and the pic is not at all good. The connectors at the back of the STB has 3 SCART connectors for TV, VCR and Accessory If you are using component YbPbR out of your STB into component (YbPbR) on your projector, I would suggest you should be getting the best picture you will get. However, I may have misunderstood adn you are using 1 solitary RCA connector for standard Video output into your projector which in that case, is generally acknowledged as the lowest quality method of connection. If you can't use YBPbR component or RGB then try getting a SCART converter to Component and plugging that into the YbPbR component inputs on your projector. I hope I got the right end of the stick! Cheers, Nick

I hope I got the right end of the stick! Nick, yes, I think that is exactly what I need: a scart to YBPbR connectore....but can't find one (well, not at the Electronic Dick's place). I'll go hunting in specialist stores. And yes, where possible I connect in this manner. I have rigged a composite 4-in-and-one-out switch that takes the three component leads into the three composite RCS females and switches perfectly into the AE300. Colin
astroboydivx Posted September 9, 2003 Posted September 9, 2003 Nick, Have you tried non-Panny STB's in the AE300? Same result?
gclark8 Posted September 9, 2003 Posted September 9, 2003 Colin You posted the same question 3 times in 3 topics. It has been answered yesterday. http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showtopic=482
