B ) burn to dvd in 16x9 Is it also possible to plug a foxtel box via an aerial input to record foxtel to my Hard drive. what i am asking is do these cards recieve digital signals only. cheers STU
renura Posted September 13, 2003 Posted September 13, 2003 7stu7, The best option is to have two PCI card in the one PC, one for terrestrial and one for satellite. That way you don't need to degrade the digital satellite signal. Just record it to the hard drive in both instances. Package 1 is what you are looking for: http://www.digitalnow.com.au/products/pack...ckagedeals.html To burn to DVD that can play in any DVD player you need to convert the video to be DVD compliant, using tools such PVAstrumento, etc. Cheers Renura
7stu7 Posted September 13, 2003 Author Posted September 13, 2003 thanks for the info but those options are too pricey.
bridgey Posted September 13, 2003 Posted September 13, 2003 I have known people to use a program called Dscaler and a standard analogue bt chipset tv tuner card. This allows you to get free cable tv (it is illegal though). By the way, you know those compatible cam cards for Satellite dvb, does anyone know if they will be making one for cable?
digitaladvisor Posted September 13, 2003 Posted September 13, 2003 Yes - when Foxtel goes digital on cable there will be DVB-C cards released. There are three digital standards in DVB: DVB-C (cable) DVB-S (satellite) DVB-T (terrestial) Regards DA
k3nnis888 Posted September 13, 2003 Posted September 13, 2003 Hi. I was wondering when foxtel changes their encryption system for the satellite service whether it be NDS or Irdeto 2, was wondering will the DVB-S CI cards that digital now have support it? Cheers. Kenn.
7stu7 Posted September 13, 2003 Author Posted September 13, 2003 i already have foxtel. i just want to run the cable out of the back of the box to my computer if i want to record something to my computer. would this work with a digital card or would i need 2 cards?
luuuc Posted September 13, 2003 Posted September 13, 2003 Some digital cards also have an analog input (eg. the Nebula has a composite video input), so you could do it with a single card
renura Posted September 13, 2003 Posted September 13, 2003 7stu7, You can connect your composite video out into the analogue in on the Nebula with the analogue input, but the quality is not that good. On the other hand you could do it by connecting your STB LNB out to the LNB in on the PCI card, insert the subscription card into the cam and away you go record as much as you like Digital Satellite TV to you HDD, can not get better quality than that. If one day the encryption system changes, you would have to change the CAM and get a new subscription card to keep using it. There are of course companies, such as OPTUS Aurora that willl sell you just the subscription card (~$100 one off payment) and that will allow you to watch such Digital Broadcast as ABC, SBS, GWN, WIN, SEVEN, etc. So technically if you are not interested in 1080i HDTV, you can get all those channels with the sat PCI card. Hope this is of some help to you. Cheers Renura
