Bergmann + Benz Micro LPS

Fantastic, I like these Bergmannn Puristics.

Bergmann simply builds great turntables with this exceptional design. Because of the purist design approach, many of its owners can be found in the creative scene.  In my circle of acquaintances, Architects, designer artists etc. are several Bergmann players.

I like the AS Phonolab 1.0 from Audiospecials.de  the perfect partner phono amplifier. Equally puristic classic design and the unic RECOMPIZER as a dynamic extension. Inputs for two players and so on.

Very reduced is also this rather British aesthetics. A LINN LP12 in natural wood plinth. The owner combines the LP12 with the AS Phonolab from Audiospecials.de The Harbeth speakers outside the photo also match the British design, framed by large bookshelves filled with British literature. When I asked him which car brand he prefers, Jaguar came as a matter of course

Excited to announce my new spinner taking over duties from the trusty Dual 506 I have been using for a few years.

Goldring Lenco 88 fitted with a new 12" Wand Plus tonearm and Ortofon 2M Black cart.

Sounding great so far aside from a hum issue that I need to work on.

Cheers,

Russ

Love seeing old TTs being used again.  Did you refurb this yourself?

Anyway - looking damn good.

Thanks, so do I. I'd love to say I did, but no. Plinth and idler mods was done by previous owner and I purchased the TT with a brand new Rega RB330 arm. I had that replaced with the Wand by Will at the Factory Audio. In hindsight I probably should have given the tonearm install a crack my self, but was too scared to do my first install on something like the Wand.

I have mucked around with the azimuth and tracking force, set the speed adjust catches so the 33.3 and 45 speeds are accurate and did some earth checks to try and find the cause of my hum issues and thats about it.

Soon, I'll machine up a little alloy or timber cap to cover the mount and hole where the Rega arm sat.

An old Trio kp770/Kenwood kd750

First new record player in a long time came today. Had to make a new rear stub for the tonearm, but apart from that it's fully functioning running on 100v. Not bad for $80 +postage.

Wait…what…Bargain!!!! Keen to hear the backstory…

Just an ebay buy. Someone was selling a bunch of mostly direct drive Japanese record players including a couple of very crusty sp10's, dingy photos, sold as is not working. Took a punt on the Trio as it looked like the important things were ok......and it actually is, quarts locks on both speeds within a second and stays there. It weighs 17.5 kgs and looks to be very well built. The tonearm is the only problem, was missing the end stub (came with the counter weight), the vertical bearing has problems and the anti skate needs some work as well. I will endeavor to fix, but meanwhile I have a RB300 lying around that will most like be better any way. Being fully manual its only a matter of reboring a slightly bigger hole slightly closer to the spindle.

Fitted the rb300 @222mm, with underslung counter weight, Stevenson arc protractor, Grace f9 with sound Smith stylus tracking nicely @ 1 gram. A bit fancy for the work shop.

Finally got my modified Linn LP-12 sorted and singing a few weeks ago. now fitted with Karousel bearing, Ittok Mk-3, Dynavector XV1s and an early Stack Audio sub chassis made of Coran (latest version is alloy). The plinth and laminated top plate are by Hi-Fi Guru in SA.

Can't decide the next upgrade will either be an Ekos SE or new power supply.

What power supply do you have atm on your LP12, Alan?

Andy,

it's currently a Hercules II Mose, i'm really not sure about the DC motors and supply like the Mober or Linn option so thinking Lingo 4.

I'm not a fan of DC motors either, Alan - although I suspect that with their latest version of the Radikal, Linn may finally have been able to sort out the issues.

I myself went down the 'Number9' route many years ago, with one of Steve's prototypes (later changing to a 'production' model).  But given he doesn't seem to have been sighted for quite a long time ... I'm unsure as to whether this is still a viable option.  :(

So given that ... the Lingo IV is probably a good choice - unless you can source a 2nd-hand 'Falcon' plus 'Road Runner' from Phoenix Engineering (in the US).  I believe Phoenix closed down - on account of the guy behind them (Bill?) deciding to retire ... but I also heard that maybe VPI bought him out?

Bad option if VPI have anything to do with it now!

That may well be ... I have no experience of VPI.

So search on eBay for a used Falcon plus Road Runner.

Not VPI, SOTA:

https://sotaturntables.com/company-news/sota-brings-speed-control-to-a-new-level/

But only doing it for SOTA legacy products, not universal.

There is also the Revolution from Vinyl Passion.

Cheers
