I like the purple heart contrast.  Very distinctive.  Well done

Thanks.    There's some joinery that could be better but it's pretty much at my max

New guy here.

Rega RP3 Exact2 is pictured.  Will be replaced with a Thorens TD 148a. presently on a UPS truck.  What follows is from my intro post.  This is post #2.

I decided my music system in retirement will be a DIY brand.   A Neurochrome 300B (N/A) valve amplifier designed by Tom Christiansen,  an RIAA Balanced Phono Preamp designed by Douglas Self   a pair of Mass Loaded Transmission Line speaker enclosures designed by Bob Brines (N/A) with 8” Mark Audio Alpair speakers.  The amplifier has a pair of Gold Lion 300B driver valves from Russia and a pair of 1958 Amprex Bugle Boy “D” getter receiver valves from Heerlen Holland.  (Back then it was called Holland).    I need an automatic turntable because my hands have developed tremors and queueing the tonearm is an ordeal.  Also my fiddling days with electronics are over.    You'll see a picture of what happens when you have tremors and use a Fluke

All the wood is finished with shellac french polish method. The speaker enclosures are made from quilted maple.  The 300B has figured maple with walnut posts.  The table is made from quarter sawn white oak with a zebra wood band and iron hairpin legs purchased on Etsy.    THIS IS A LINK TO MY DIY AUDIO PHOTO

I've always been worried about the rubber rings used as suspension withering / hardening/ losing their as new properties, with these SME designs.

Have you ever had to change yours after a certain time?

I have used SME 20/2, SME 20/12 TT for about 3-4 yrs each time.  So far, I have been able to adjust to suspension column height to take up for the elongation of the rubber rings.  Just before I replaced the 20/12 mid last year, I was about to replace the rubber rings after about 4 yrs plus of use.  The rubber rings or suspension bands are not expensive and easily available from SME so I am not too worried.  Online, each original SME suspension band cost about 11 pounds.

OK, I was wondering if the humidity in Singapore would have caused them to perish quicker.

I used to live in Singapore, mind you that was 45+ years ago, and I used to post at the Singapore based HiFi forum Echo Loft, but for some reason that became problematic from Australia, almost like there was some government vetting of what was posted....used to take ages for any posts I made to appear......I eventually put it in the Too Hard Basket.

Is Echo Loft still going ?

It used to be a great forum with some hard core HiFi nuts [much like this place 😂 ]

The high humidity and heat in Singapore does cause the rubber suspension to elongate faster but replacement has never been an issue here as we have a  SME distributor here.  Even for the drive belt for my previous SME 20/12, I replaced it after 4 yrs when the speed was out.

Yes, i used to post in Echoloft also.  Now it its almost non-existent with alot of spams and junk post.  Most of us dont post there anymore.

Pretty stoked with how this new to me Pioneer PL-514 is sounding.

Lubed the bottom and top bearings of the motor and spindle. Soaked the rubber motor mounts in rubber renewer and add some sound deadner to the steel plates on the top and bottom of the plinth. Finished off with a new Ortofon blue.

All of the rumble is gone!

Actually, not much needs to be said about the Thorens TD 124.
The reasonableness of a relaunch can also be discussed. The new Thorens TD 124 DD shows a, in my opinion, very successful example of a modern revival. An AS community member has fulfilled his dream and placed this modern Thorens TD 124 DD with AS Phonolab next to the Garrard 401. His profession as a writer brings it with him to go on an exciting journey through time with vinyl as well.

The first ting I said to myself when I saw that beast, and it’s an interior lineman of a turntable, anyway “self that is so way retro German Alps looking.   It belongs on a picnic in the mountains ⛰ wit dem funny shorts.”  That’s what that style said to me    Retro all the way but I won’t spend any time looking for one at Goodwill.

p.s.  you can only play Wagner

I can finally show my turntable off.  Boy am I happy.  It doesn’t take me four attempts to line up the tonearm with this puppy or find the queue lever.  Nope, a nice slider switch and I drop the cover long before the stylus hits the vinyl.  What won’t they think of next?   I’ll get some better shots soon.  Still working on getting the tonearm dialed in.

After experiencing about 3 weeks of covid-induced courier rage, I've finally got to set up the turntable recently purchased from @Cono28 today. Pretty bloody happy!

Are you using the GN phono stage as well? It would be a prefect match.
