Beautiful turntable Hugo_Wilco.

Have you thought about getting that gorgeous wooden skirt?

Nah. I love the look without it. I actually don't like the look with the wooden skirt

any Shindo bits in yours, Did? and what is the bearing?

Hi Bill, no Shindo parts in mine except for his leaded cloth mat, I sometimes use that and sometimes a copper mat.  The platter is slightly oversize by Ray Clarke and the bearing is a Redbeard.  I've tried a lot of different bearings and still think this is my favourite.  The arm is an EMT 997, similar to Neil's except mine has the SME pin and Ortofon G shape headshell fitting rather than the standard EMT short fitting.  I'm a big believer in the LignoLab plinth, it's a really carefully tuned part of the whole equation.

My Dual 1225 with Shure M75b cart.

This is my 1st ever TT, bought about 9 months ago from here on Stereonet. I absolutley love the huge plinth on this. I've seen that most Duals of this era come in much smaller plinths but I don't think they do them justice because these turntables are absolute tanks.

I have an identical plinth! If you are interested in ancient history, my dad bought it new in 1972 from Flinders Trading in Adelaide, it is fitted with a Silcron belt drive turntable unit on a suspended plinth and a Sansui L-shaped tonearm.

I have assumed it is a junker, although still in immaculate condition in my shed, but doing a little googling and hmmmm....... I could be right or it could be half decent (for the day).

Yeah I've seen this plinth around a few times. It goes well with the entertainment unit that its in now. But it would impossible to get this on a hifi rack, its just too big.

Thanks M.    I hope it stays alive now.   Been playing it all night, so finger crossed it will stay that way.

Interestingly, the tech said it is amazing how different the Pioneer is to the JVC is to the Kenwood - all the DD drive motors look similar from the outside, completely different inside.  No doubt the Lux would be different again.

Pity the Lux could not be fixed, as it is a stunning looking unit.

You have a Kenwood now right?   How do you like it sound wise?

MB,

The Kenny is a terrific little 'table. Sounds great but i'm hankering for something more substantial. The Yammy GT2000 fits the bill and I may have the opportunity to get one of the better Project TTs at a sweet price... Either way, the Kenny is sounding sweet but is, and always has been a stop-gap. How's the Pio going mate?

Cheers

Excellent...I especially like it that you can house your TT accessories within. Nice & tidy   ;)

That's gotta be around 60 cm wide overall?

Cheers, Owen

Hmmm. Wish I could. Tough choice... One brand new and trouble free...the other a proven classic but with some risk....

That is an interesting choice - love my YamGT2000 - sounds so solid, rhythmic and just dam musical

The Project however I suspect might have a better arm, but perhaps not the drive to a heavy weight DD

One thing about the Yammy is that a better arm could be mounted if need be....That opens up some interesting possibilities...

Yep

Ideal for a Dynavector ;)

Or the Graham 2.2 that I just happen to have for sale. ;)

(Which, having replaced a DV505 on my LP12, I can attest to being a much better-sounding arm (same cartridge). :) )

Mmmm perhaps

The Yamaha does not take arms with ( the usual) under arm cable out without major modification, arms with above plinth arm cable out are best

SAEC make a special model, some Dynavectors and a few others ;)

Mind the Graham is a great arm so, just not an easy fit

1980 Luxman PD264 saaved from the skip, it had no tonearm so I fitted an Excel 801 for a while, now it sports an Acos Lustre from the 70's.

Taken a couple of years for me to get it to this stage, I think it needs a bigger armboard to cover where the original arm was. You can see in the top picture.

All in good time. You have done a remarkable job to get it to this point.

This 301 was a real basket case when I got it ... paint chips and discolouration, dust bug marks, broken knobs etc. and filthy underneath ... so I took the opportunity to do a black 301, with the help of Perfect Sound and Classic Turntable co for replacement springs, faceplates and other parts.

Currently sitting on 'work' plinth while waiting arrival of the real thing.

I came into this thread to post my setup but I'm a little jelly at some of these turntables

Just close you eyes and imagine my Audio Technica LP-120 and Audioengine 5+ speakers, that should suffice, hahah

I've just been looking into these stabilizer clamps....
