laurie Posted January 27, 2005 Author Posted January 27, 2005 you should put that top-loader out on the nature strip Santa I was warned by a council nazi[its the uniform & flashing lights on their cars] that a $750 fine will be imposed if I leave anything on the nature strip so I asked why don't they come and mow it if its council property! he called me a smart ar$e and puffed off at great speed cheers laurie

Nature strip as in to be left to nature !
Santa1503559644 Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 We dont even call it a "nature strip" in Perth (probably because of the "if its natural, kill it!" mentality!) ... its "the verge"!
stahc Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 your right there loz. they won't pay to put the grass down and won't be part of the up keep but just try putting something on their strip and see how unpleasant life can get. dosen't matter which council they're all bah-stards you should put that top-loader out on the nature strip Santa I was warned by a council nazi[its the uniform & flashing lights on their cars] that a $750 fine will be imposed if I leave anything on the nature strip so I asked why don't they come and mow it if its council property! he called me a smart ar$e and puffed off at great speed cheers laurie <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

You mean they make YOU pay for all the "crossovers" etc that they require THEIR contractors to build at YOUR expense!?!
geoffcb1503559619 Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 HAHAHAHAHABrisbane City council mayor Cambell Newman on the news tonight went on about how disgusted he is that people are dumping there rubbish in the bush at mansfield. HAHA the council is there own worst enemy, as the tip aint free no more. Ah the advantage of living in Pine Rivers, where the tip's free and they have a trash and treasure where they have anything, even an old washing machine (make note anyone in brissy who needs to get rid of stuff still in working order, thats the place to dump it) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes but you need to show your drivers liscence to prove you live in Pine Rivers, otherwise it costs $ - gotta love trash and treasure though... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Easy! We'll visit Datvman and use his license!! Actually, I have a mate who lives in Pine Rivers - sounds like he might come in handy!!!
gclark8 Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 I have 4 tip passes from bassendean council, that allows dumping 500kg per pass. 4 free!
datvman Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 I think that the tip should be free 24/7 everywhere like it is here in Pine Rivers. You'd be surprised how much cleaner pine rivers is because the tip is free
stahc Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 sounds like i'll be sending all the rubbish to strathpine for the oldies to get rid of!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think that the tip should be free 24/7 everywhere like it is here in Pine Rivers. You'd be surprised how much cleaner pine rivers is because the tip is free <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
laurie Posted January 29, 2005 Author Posted January 29, 2005 Even parking ones own car on the nature strip can impose a fine...lol I can remember a local Sydney council telling a family to pull down the cubby house built on a tree due to it not meeting council specs really what they mean is they did not make any money on it e.g. rates I wonder what will happen if I installed my satellite dishes on my front lawn cheers laurie
Tweet Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 If the local council can sell your house and land if you are not forth coming with your rates,do you in fact actually own your property or are we simply paying cheap rent on something we have peviously paid for ? My neighbours told me when they wanted to build their garage in the position that they did,the council would fine them $150 for breaking the By-Laws, so they paid $150 upfront and then built the garage.. Is this corruption or what ? C.M
laurie Posted January 30, 2005 Author Posted January 30, 2005 Is this corruption or what ? C.M. That's why they make good politicians! they were taught at local goverment level cheers laurie
Santa1503559644 Posted January 30, 2005 Posted January 30, 2005 Unfortunately in our Americanized society, the verge/nature strip has now joined the shopping mall as the haunt of the predatory litigator - often knowing that the council will cough up the ransom to avoid the waste of money in legal action, so I have just a little sympathy for some of the moves of councils ... our rates go up every time some bastard fakes a traumatic injury for a nice little earner. OTOH, of course, there are always people who have nothing better to do than hunting down "verge violators" to persecute between ticketing cars and inspecting pool fences... On the subject of limitless free tipping for one and all ... well, frankly ... I DISAGREE! We've already got a pathetically over-the-top wasteful consumer society ... encouraging people to "waste till it hurts" is just great way to further flush our future down the crapper! <End sensible rant> (Dont disagree about corruption, though ... these days most councillors are real-estate developers or their mates/puppets, simply on the council to push through their lucrative money-vomiting trash-the-neighbourhood projects )
betty boop Posted January 30, 2005 Posted January 30, 2005 "verge violators" are they lower form of life than kerb crawlers ?
laurie Posted January 31, 2005 Author Posted January 31, 2005 Well I had a partial clean up and tossed out most of the heavy equipement e.g beds, mattress, ect the only problem was everyone in the area keep me up all night dumping rubbish on the front lawn so the JR man came around and said we are not taking that I said 2/3 of it is not mine and if you don't I will move it to the middle of the road so I rang council at the same time he was ringing his crowd he then came back and said OK ah the joys of dealing with Local Goverment anyhow while watching the hydraulic ram making mince meat of the rubbish I just thought how easy it was to get rid of someone if you had access to one of these vehicles cheers laurie
Tweet Posted January 31, 2005 Posted January 31, 2005 Well Laurie, having been diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D (noted from another post ) you wouldn't feel guilty about it either after a few minutes of distraction. See, old age does pay dividends.. C.M
laurie Posted February 1, 2005 Author Posted February 1, 2005 you wouldn't feel guilty about it either after a few minutes of distraction. C.M The only reason I thought about it was a few days before my misses was getting on my nerves about the on/off clean up just a bad thought cheers laurie
Tweet Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 It's alright Laurie, we (the agency) have only used a yellow highlighter on your profile in our records,........still DEFCOM 3. C.M
