Timmy Downawell Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Well, I hope this doesn't get deleted for being too silly, because it's not intended to be... it is on-topic, after all. I personally think that houses simply don't need a bathroom for every bedroom, in the same way that I feel that HD is an unneccesary luxury for the majority. But don't let my opinion sway your truth. Fess up!! And be honest!
Digicruiser Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 There be many people out there with HD STB's but no HD display and is on the wish list to get a HD display. So in the scheme of things, should we include those counts as proper HD users in other polls asking that? Hmmm... It gives a false sense when one asks how many HD STB's are sold but not used to their best ability- they should count how many HD displays are sold as those mose likely will have a HD box with it or will have in the near future. So the HD box around the street somewhere maybe something one didn't need but wanted - Luxury...
Santa1503559644 Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 Now that's bizzare! Anyhow, you left off "Just one outdoor dunny!"
gclark8 Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 My bathroom has no HD or SD DTV, only FM, ABC Classic..
betty boop Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 We have 2 bathrooms and a 'powder-room' (hey thats what the builder called it on the plans) and hence being the very balanced household that we are we have two HD receivers and a SD one ! please do not ask what we get upto in the powder room ! hehehe
Timmy Downawell Posted February 12, 2005 Author Posted February 12, 2005 Now that's bizzare! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> heh, well it was 2am! I think it's bizarre that people build houses now with a bathroom for every bedroom. I mean, that was hardly a necessity when we were growing up, so why do people people seem to think they need it now? (I could accept one bathroom for parents and one for kids, and they'd have to clean it themselves!) So I just wanted to know if the kind of people who have HD also share that particular mentality.
Dik Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 2 stories, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. Works a treat. The downstairs bathroom doubles as an ensuite for the spare bedroom. That's not luxury, just good design. Best of luck, Dik

So I just wanted to know if the kind of people who have HD also share that particular mentality. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It was around the eighties when the irrational need for countless "bedrooms" came in. IMNSO, this was worse than the demand for #bathrooms=#bedrooms. I think its better to have sufficient private facilities for the number of people in the house*, than to build half a dozen extra "bedrooms" which are barely larger than broom cupboards! All this 5x3, 6x3, 8x4 garbage, when family sizes have been reducing for decades. {PS: I will neither confirm nor deny that the Santa Palace has: 3 bedrooms ; 3 ensuites; another separate shower ; another 2 separate WCs/washrooms ... unless I've missed any!} ______________________________________________ *Yep, I dont like lining up to use the "bathroom"...

I suspect the people I was targetting have been less than honest.. well, that or my theory has been completely shot to pieces... by the likes of Santa But I suppose he does have lots of elves, and they only have small bladders. Dik - I wouldn't wish a 2-storey house with only one bathroom on anyone.

Fess up!! And be honest! Two storey, two BR, two toilets, one bathroom (without dunny). One DGTec HD STB (don't work no more). Didn't vote, no option accurately reflected my toilet/STB combination! Cheers JB
Timmy Downawell Posted February 14, 2005 Author Posted February 14, 2005 Ahhh ... maybe because of the "For HD STB owners only" rider... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hmm. maybe I should have not been so pointed and had double the options with a HD/no HD option. <sigh> Polling is not such an easy art is it?
laurie Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 What I don't understand is why women think the mirror in the only bathroom in our household is different to any other mirror in the house!! cheers laurie

Where did you gain your apparent qualification for deciding what is "necessary" and what is "an unnecessary luxury" for someone other than yourself? Using your criteria, even SD digital TV is "an unnecesary luxury" prior to 2008!
gclark8 Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 Laurie, you mean it is different to that one on the ceiling?
laurie Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 Laurie, you mean it is different to that one on the ceiling? Now now George we will not go there cheers laurie
