Yeah, it'd be better if they taped a show a week, but you know what Auntie's budget is like.

Was no opportunity to speak to Wil or any of them about the DOG.

He even did a bit (for next week's show) telling the story of the guy who got trapped in his car in an avalanche and drank 60 litres of beer and pissed his way out.

If he were to check further, Snopes.com (debunker of urban myths) was unable to verify this story, and it happens to be very similar to an email hoax joke that went around earlier. Oh well... never let the facts...

I wouldn't be surprised if the reason why they tape 2 shows in advance (who knows how often) is because the ABC wants that studio emptied of the Glass House set quicker so they can put in the Strictly Dancing set (which looks quite weird in person let alone watching it) for another recording before the Glass House set goes back in..

I see they shoot The New Inventors every second Friday, the same week as Glass House. I wonder if that's in the same studio too?

Maybe. but I would think it would be too much hassle to move the set for two shows. They may use either the Artamon site or the other studio in the Ultimo complex (I think it's Studio 21. It is smaller but it could (if I remember correctly from the time I had a tour of the complex (they have a whole bunch of Apple Mac's ), it could fit New inventors in, just).

Great line up on Aunty tonight

8:00pm - New Inventors

8:30pm - Spicks and Specks

9:00pm - Little Britian

9:30pm - THE GLASS HOUSE

And I missed it (mainly due to the fact I had to go out, webscheduler wouldn't load, I forgot about DNTV Live! and found that after my playing with the FusionHDTV box's USB cable (ie. un-plugging it, plugging it in, un-plugging it and moving the cable out of the mess of other cables, plugging it back in), it wouldn't work due to Windows getting confused).

Is the other studio at Ultimo at the opposite end to where Glass House is shot, and up one or two levels? I could see some kind of suite with a huge green screen up ther, with what loked like a mezzanine floor to one side.

I thought when the ABC moved to Ultimo they quit their Gore Hill facility altogether. But Atarmon? They have a studio there as well?

BTW do they do any public tours of the Ultimo site? I remember when I was a kid we went on a tour of TVNZ's Avalon studios in Wellington. I'd have been about 8yo or so, it was around 1977.

It's right next door to the Glass House's studio.

At the time I visited last year (01/2004), they were still wondeirng what to do with that studio.

It's the other big doors that you see when you come into the Ultimo complex near that security desk/plasma display.

They have a small studio complex in Artamon off one of the back roads (it may be the only part of the old ABC Gore Hill studios left in ABC hands but I am not sure. Anyway, the ABC Resource Hire website tells about the studios ABC has avalible for hire (including the Artamon studio)).

I don't know if they do public tours. The tour I went on was one that my Dad organised with a Sydney ABC employee (my Dad works for ABC Canberra).

Presumably the news comes out of Ultimo as well... could that be what I saw up the other end? Looking up from the main lobby at the opposite end to the reception desk. All you can see is a big green screen and the rest is pretty much shielded off from view.

I would suspect that it could very well be it. The news studio is on the second floor (you could say it's right above the public cafe's entrance) with glass windows that are blocked off inside. I think the green screen could be where the weather comes from now (as the new news set may have not fitted where the old one was).

i

BTW. The news studio is only used for ABC News, Midday Report and Insiders (when they cross to Sydney) (of course things could have changed).

Lateline, 7.30 Report and Media watch (which i am sure they would be using the same set still) is done in a basement. (at the rear end of the building)

Oh, and FWIW, I made it into a few fleeting glimpses of the audience. I'm wearing a red t-shirt. I'm sure no-one had a chance of spotting me. Maybe next week.

Well, I will record the encore Glass House on Friday and see if I can see you.

9:30pm - THE GLASS HOUSE

I do like The Glass House, but only because of Corinne and Dave, and the occasional interesting guest panellist.

Dunno about the rest of you, but I am sick and tired of the dreary "filler" panellist, Pinky bloody Beecroft.
