Nude Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Reminds me of one Melbourne's Valmorbida clan who during the building of one their commercial properties near the Vic Markets in the mid nineties had a Ferrari 328 GTS craned into what was to become the living room of his apartment on the 13th floor I kid you not !
likwidsh0k Posted February 9, 2010 Author Posted February 9, 2010 Worlds Greenest Homes is back on Thursday ABC 6pm with a new series, new pretty boy hosting and same format but still interesting.. though nothing on Grand Designs.
likwidsh0k Posted April 10, 2013 Author Posted April 10, 2013 Anyone else enjoying the Grand Designs repeats?
Upfront Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I love GD but struggle with most of the repeats. Some I will watch to see if there is something I've missed. One of the few shows on tv that I don't feel dumber after watching.
Super Mustud Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Don't know how I missed tis thread. The Mustuds watch most nights and also enjoy the repeats. We even watched last year when we were in Scotland and the year before on a canal boat in Wales. Notice how few of the places have curtains or blinds? And how do they clean the windows?

likwidsh0k Posted April 11, 2013 Author Posted April 11, 2013 "There can be only one" was a joke that died in response to seano's "K. McCloud (of the Clan McCloud?)".. But Peter still hasn't grown on me, and the houses often were McMansions or architect self-promotions.Was great fun coming up with nicknames for the homes in the whingepool thread eg the Service Station..

Yeah I agree is the great ones I don't mind watching again, tonight's episode for example is a great one.
davewantsmoore Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Added season pass... Thanks for the headsup! :-D
progladyte Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 The war office and I have been keen fans of this show for ages along with the likes of Time Team / World's Greenest House / Country Estate Rescue - all great shows that don't include too much conniving and bullshit like MKR. The only difference we have detected is that although we can recall a lot of the projects that they have televised, the home owners / renovators seem to be different people altogether. Or it could just be senility creeping in............
emesbee Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 One thing I notice with Grand Designs is that just about everybody seems to go way over budget, and ends up heavily in debt and mortgaged to the hilt. It might be interesting to have a follow up series where they revisit each of the homeowners after a few years to see how many have gone bankrupt!

Like that landing strip thing in SA or that concrete house in one of the QLD hinterlands

That was one of the first McMansions..

It sure looks like one doesn't it, but nope that is one of the finished Aussie version homes, I am guessing season 2 episode 4, it was nicknamed the Service Station by cupcakez in that Whirlpool thread.
Guest Peter the Greek Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 I just googled greenest homes.....I've seen a few episodes of this before, the format and presenter dont do it for me. The thing I like about Grand Designs most is the dialogue, I could listen to Kevin all day (insert man crush here )

That was one of the first McMansions.. Nah, it was in the second series I think, the spine of the house was this massive concrete wall that looked like a dam or highway retaining wall. The wife project managed it herself
