My very first post here. I hope it is not in vain (ie: aleady another thread going.

Anyway...

just got my local paper, the southern courier (East Sydney) and inside the front cover there is an add from the good guys and taking centre stage is the above model for $1999.

have a look here for specs, I assume it is the same model.

now, just for posting this gem, can I ask a couple of questions?

If I just want to watch dvd's and widescreen digital footy should I get a CRT with component inputs and does 100mHz mean anything if you only have composite inputs?

I have been browsing this site for a few months and I must say I'm addicted. Kind of like window shopping.

Hi Rogueswan

I have just bought a Plasma. I an an electronics engineer and did a lot of research/viewing in shops before reaching my conclusion. I was VERY dissapointed with ALL LCD's that I looked at - especially with any picture that had FAST moving graphics (ie Sport). It looks very pixelated and "grainy". Even the mega expensive ones had the same issue. The Channel 9 High Def Test image (shown through the day in the shops) looks great but it is a slow image. Look at something like the Footy and you will walk away.

I just made the comment in another Post that a mate of mine who was over last night who spent $15k on an LCD said my $4k Plasma had a better image.

Buy a Plasma and get a bigger screen for your money.

I am sorry, what I meant was

On a completely different topic (I should have probably started a new thread) I am looking a buying a WS CRT < $1000. I have narrowed my choice down to two. One which has only composite inputs but is 100mHz and another with Component, S-Video and composite. Both with the same price and from what I can tell from the shop a very similar PQ.

Which one shoud I take for watching WS footy and DVD's?

I finally went down to the Good guys, the model was now priced at $2799.

But I was shown 2 other 26" models for $2499 and without showing any real interest the price dropped to $1999.

Don't think I want an LCD now though.

1) My 15 month year old daughter does like to tap on the current CRT in the living room with her cup, especially when there are animals showing. And with another one on the way I think the sturdiness of CRT maybe the way for me to go. Plus the price is half that of an LCD. Are these screens relatively fragile?

2) Wasn't that impressed with the image. SD through component. Appeared quite blocky (approx. 2m back) Is this just poor set up or the way it is?
