laurie Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 Was watching Sky Business News this morning and the host said "Coming up next we look at ....." so what happens... they put something else on then the bar$tards say the very same thing at the next break! then to-night me and my better half had a row because I switched over from TTN when 3mins to finish she said "After the break we will have more" then next words "Tomorrow night we will...have a good night" arghhh I'm sure that is done on purpose but it sure annoys me to no end cheers laurie \ps and my other hate is pre-recorded shows like Deal or No Deal pretending to be live! for e.g. Anzac Day "Welcome To This Anzac Day Show"
Timmy Downawell Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 my other hate is pre-recorded shows like Deal or No Deal pretending to be live! for e.g. Anzac Day "Welcome To This Anzac Day Show" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I particularly hate it when Andrew "crosses" to the news headlines and the newsreader says "thanks, Andrew..." how stupid do they think we are?
timj Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 What really gives me the s**ts is the ridiculous term "all new". What the hell does it mean? Do they ever broadcast a show that is half new and half repeat? The networks slavishly copy each other: monkey see.....monkey do!
laurie Posted May 3, 2005 Author Posted May 3, 2005 My favourite welcome back Deal or No Deal from where!! maybe they think we went MIA to me it seems there are told to say these stupid things welcome back to me means WHILE the show was on I went out and then came back they are the ones who interupted the program cheers laurie
Scorchie™ Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 The fact you're admitting to watching DoND, is scary enough!
John_Barber Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 my other hate is pre-recorded shows like Deal or No Deal pretending to be live! for e.g. Anzac Day "Welcome To This Anzac Day Show" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I particularly hate it when Andrew "crosses" to the news headlines and the newsreader says "thanks, Andrew..." how stupid do they think we are? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well may you ask "how stupid" - at least for some viewers not necessarily fellow forumites. Some years ago the switchboard at one network took a call from a viewer demanding to speak with the star of one particular american daytime soapie. When the caller was told he "wasn't here" the viewer replied that of course the star was there, because they'd just seem them on the TV show! JB

laurie Posted May 4, 2005 Author Posted May 4, 2005 The fact you're admitting to watching DoND, is scary enough! Ah.... the old BBQ topic "Do you watch that $hit!!...." off course people that say those things must go to the ballet instead cheers laurie
DavoNogo Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Do they ever broadcast a show that is half new and half repeat? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yes... that's happened quite a lot, on some good shows too! stargate on 7, farscape on 9, ed on 10
timj Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 I mean within an episode, not showing a new episode one week and a repeat the following week etc.
laurie Posted May 4, 2005 Author Posted May 4, 2005 I particularly hate it when Andrew "crosses" to the news headlines and the newsreader says "thanks, Andrew..." how stupid do they think we are? That happen sometime back where one network got caught out by trying to convince viewers that a reporter was live at a location overseas instead of a voice over being done in the newsroom! cheers laurie
DavoNogo Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 I mean within an episode, not showing a new episode one week and a repeat the following week etc. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> oh...

Scorchie™ Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Ah.... the old BBQ topic "Do you watch that $hit!!...." off course people that say those things must go to the ballet instead I'll grant ya that one, good come back. Bonus points awarded, I'm heading back to the cupboard.

laurie Posted May 4, 2005 Author Posted May 4, 2005 LOL when they were reporting the first flight of the A380 the reporter said " As tall as a 6 storey building" urh... so what is the height of 1 storey building is it 1m/10m/20m/30m arghhhh.. and the best of all in this "The healthy baby weights 8lb" why can't they say 3.629kg[arh but that is not healthy the figure is too low] then there is this from the sports commentator " the ball was 3 feet from the side line"!! cheers laurie

BTW: Remember the old Wiiiiiiiiide World Of Sports? (Or Sports Sunday or whatever) Every ad break from the first of the programme went "coming up next [only interesting item on show]" and always the next segment of the show was something like "BMX Banditz Ride Again" or "Dirtbikers of Adelaide" or "Rubgy League" etc ... then they'd finally show the only half-decent segment right at the end of the programme of course. NB: On that subject, dont you HATE the way all motor racing telecasts (usually delayed - often by more than a day) always pretend the race is "coming up", when in reality its YET ANOTHER BLOODY REPEAT OF SOME PUFF PIECE / promo piece / silly look at drivers "off the racetrack" {aka looking like clowns...} Brings back memories of year after year when GM would sponsor the Bathurst telecast, and every year there'd be hours of crud like "Peter HOLDEN Brock's HOLDEN Bathurst HOLDEN Legends of Mount Holderama" ...
laurie Posted May 5, 2005 Author Posted May 5, 2005 I hope you watch MW! Yep interesting topic last night about the Bali Nine money making machine from Ch9 !! cheers laurie
