Yep, when I was at big blue there were several sociopathic managers that I have the misfortune to work for! Thankfully for me, it was a case of what didn't kill me made me stronger!

In the South Australian Pubic Service (yes Pubic) it would be 3 out of 5 that are Psychopathic, and the staff are suffering.

Actually FACS, FAYS, CYFS whatever name you wanna give them, had the highest rate of suicides compared to other departments etc. One guy was shafted badly after progressing through a career ages ago. He rang up Human Resources and told them how they stuffed up his life and so on and shot himself while the call was still connected. It was reported that da management learnt from this situation but all has disappeared again. Again we have psychopathic managers and directors in the department where many just don't care what they do to people's lives...

I often wonder if our Social Security is run by some of them ,we are sure to hear from that Department in the coming months.

In fact, I suspect the Federal Government must target such people to install them in positions that undermine public utilities for the sake of privatising them later, for instance Telecom.

Well, 1 manager was installed into one of the C Care operations simply to butcher and rid a couple of people here and there to streamline it. What you are saying is the next level, sabotage the place to weaken it so alternatives can be looked at - yep that happens

Do you have any experiences of this 'madness' existing in your company or organisation ?

+The story was a bit half-baked (what's new?) - I mean, who wouldn't answer "yes" to all of their questions?!?

+In my company ... yeah, the head dude's a complete psycho! ( ) Oh no, here he comes ... :P

+Yep - the PS get plenty of these that in the private sector may be better weeded out (as a bad manager is a bad manager, and any sensible organisation is likely to find that out over time, however in the PS, like certain Churches, bad eggs just get moved around).

+Also, of course, its practically a prerequisite for politics!

+How would you like to work for Alan Jones!?!?! Talk about smarm + venom....

+Dunno if everyone here's mate Flint has the venom too, but no-one beats him in smarm!

Does Costello stand a chance? Can this demon who turned to the Dark Side really muster the numbers? Or will we get Satan himself (Tony Abbott)?

I don't really think Turnbull stands a chance ATM... though, given St Howard's spinned transformation from would-be-nerdy little snivelling back-stabbing no-one into "Great Statesman/Glorious Leader" ... who knows!

edit: I suppose if you really wanted to know, just ask Unlce Rupe!

I don't think so. IMO, he has fired his .22 handgun way too early ... giving Abbott and Turnbull plenty of time to load and aim their 120mm cannons about 6 months before the next election.

Abbott still has time to grow up (and is like Blair in many ways ... for better or worse), whereas both Turnbull and Costello are tarts that will sway to the prevailing breeze (both tried with Labor first). IMO, Turnbull will eat Costello for breakfast [within the party ... hopefully, not with the public] when he's had more time to gather some snivelling sycophants glory-seekers "Jim Hacker"s to his ticket ..........

Howard did his "I [wink] didn't say I wasn't leaving..." piece at this stage so that Costello would implode before the numbers men realise what control of the senate means.

wrt Abbott ... "and I thought I'd heard all the Blair insults before! This one takes the cake!"

All I can say with 100% certainty about the "Liberal" leadership circus is ... no leader will simply appear "from left field"! {Boom boom!}

It's not surprising considering that about 30% of the possible work force are "employed" by the Public service in some way or other.

In our place, there's competition amongst themselves. Others walk over people to further themselves and scheme all the time to stop this and that and sway bs policy to what they want.

A simple case. A program that was started ages ago has flourished in the minor ranks and had become important in every work in certain areas. Because the executive has been "refreshed" (old dogs revisiting the place) and it wasn't THEIR idea, they want to dump it and put in something that shines their name instead, even though the alternative is rotten to the core...

We have someone who was doing a centre replacement project. He got to do it out of being the suck-hole he is and jump from A/ASO4 to ASO6 acting. Because of the 2 year rule he was made permanent as a ASO6! When he took over the job, he blantently and secretly ripped off other people's work and called it his own. Then shortly after, someone else was given the job and he walked away with his higher class not doing the job anymore - many find him an as*-*ole and now I think he's cheating the system by tutoring in a university and getting paid and during the PS normal working day! He still is being paid for the full PS working day too! Then you look at the poor people who get left behind in careers and no matter how hard they try, they don't get anywhere... this is the public service! This causes alot of tension!
