So he threw a phone at someone. big deal. Aren't there any other issues of greater importance out there
snorksnool Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 ... The minister's are all playing my dick's bigger than yours* while Sky are in the midst of stealing ABC Asia. Some years ago Kerry Stokes took over Asia Television International from the ABC. From a modest success ATVI was stripped and run down to the point where it was simply a waste of airtime. ABC A-P, now funded by DFAT, is a much better/popular service than ATVI and, personally I don't think the service would be improved by being run by Sky. Of course the Media Watch report was biased, but I still trust the ABC to run the service better than the alternatives. ss

Notepad Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 It's the law of the country, a celebrity is in fact a nobody when it comes to the law. If he's found guilty then sentence him. Who cares if he's a movie star??
riley454 Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 Another media-driven 'public interest story'. "Sheep shagger injures Septic" I'm a member of the public and have no interest. At least(as far as we know) Schappelle is an Aussie so has some interest. Nahhh, not really. Just another story to keep journos in whiskey. Has no impact on anyone elses life except the losers who rely on the media to keep their minds busy.
Tweet Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 This is not a down turn in Russell's career but a new learning experience from which he will no doubt use to further his acting ability, besides he probably needs time for reflection anyhow. His making of a public apology and his admitting fault for his over-reaction will probalbly cost him a fine,a good behaviour bond and some form of restituition to the guy on the front desk. I doubt if he would see the 'slammer', if he did, it would be only a brief stay. C.M
laurie Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 I doubt if he would see the 'slammer', if he did, it would be only a brief stay Then he would have something to Crow about cheers laurie

Wasn't it reported that the guy on the front desk is after $2 million? Look, I dislike Russell just as much as the next person, but if the report is true, I know which one should be in jail. JB
Serendigity Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 Just because Russel is a rich and famous movie star does not mean he can behave in such a way. He should be subject to whatever law prevails in the country he is visiting. And why was he staying in a hotel with such lousy service anyway? I would have thought at the $X,000 per night places he would stay at they would have very efficient maintenance of rooms and exemplary room service for things such as a broken phone...
JoshH Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 Personally, I think nothing would have ever been said or done by anyone had the phone not been thrown by someone rich and famous. I mean its a phone FFS - not a knife he threw.
laurie Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 I mean its a phone FFS - not a knife he threw Thank god the TV was not faulty! cheers laurie
gclark8 Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 A phone offence brings higher penalties than a knife. You are normally charged by the phone co, the knife or gun Cos don't get involved. My dad did a night in jail for using a phone to assualt someone, the PMG brought the charges, the "victim" was not ivolved. NEVER hit anyone with a rental phone!!!

Crowe might get away with it as he can hire high powered lawyers, joe averagewould being spending a lot of time in jail for throwing a phone.

A public flogging with a 6core telephone cable would be more appropriate. hornblower

Tweet Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 A news item mentioned young Russell was invited to the White House for dinner with GWB to celebrate his new movie as well as a sleep over, the invitation had been scheduled the night after the 'incident' happened,it was quickly cancelled to avoid controversy. Amazing stuff, imagine Russell in the Oval Office with his feet up. C.M

HDSTC Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 While not excusing Crow’s behavior (IMHO he often behaves like a spoilt brat), am I a bleeding heart leftie for believing a possible jail term of between two and eight years is over the top for throwing a phone against a wall.Even more disturbing was some loud mouthed woman that was tasered not once, but twice for refusing to get out her of vehicle after being picked up for speeding (she originally was told to stop in the vehicle when she tried to get out). http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/content/...ser_video1.html More disturbing again was a five year old child that was handcuffed and led away by three cops for chucking a wobbly at school. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/04/25/...ain690601.shtml It makes one appreciate where we live where we can get out of our vehicle and speak to our friendly cop without him fearing we are going to pull out a gun. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have it on very good advice that just prior to Russ's little outburst he was listening to Kevin Bloody Wilson , Operator 42 came on, the rest is history
john1503559500 Posted June 23, 2005 Author Posted June 23, 2005 Their joking right? Some poor woman gets dragged out of a Bush convention by a couple of heavies and faces a year in jail fro kicking one of them in the leg. http://www.nynewsday.com/news/local/manhat...oreny-headlines<snip>On one side of the courtroom sat protester June Brashares, 41, who unfurled an anti-Bush banner during his acceptance speech. Brashares is on trial for kicking two political operatives who dragged her out of Madison Square Garden, injuring one.<snip> Flanigan testified that as he got into a tug-of-war with Brashares over the sign, she was pulled off the chair and then braced herself on all fours. While he tried to lift her up by the arms, Flanigan said she reared back and kicked him in the left leg. He said he thought it was that kick that created a deep gash in his leg.<snip> Brashares is one of 50 defendants to go to trial. If found guilty, she face up to a year in jail.<snip>
