Santa1503559644 Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Just flicked through this topic, and it strikes me that you could probably get away with more fancy (or at least bigger!) pics for the members profiles section {you know - where you cant currently put a photo}... as this is not displayed constantly like the avatars. Oh, and btw ... (I know Coral won't like this after my episode with the "impossible" 10 smilies, but...) The avatars are only displayed to members so even the 470 is the extreme upper limit so far, given there are almost always more guests than members viewing the forum! :ph34r: BTW: Thanks to that echo.cx site I still haven't seen the avatar in question!
DavoNogo Posted June 27, 2005 Author Posted June 27, 2005 hmm.. i suspect broadband is just as scarce as hdtv - a lot of people have access to them, but they just don't utilitise them... and if you don't get what I mean, or misinterpret it: broadband is available in a lot of areas, and is being expanded in rural areas, yet only a small percentage of the population are connected. hdtv is available in a lot of areas, yet only a small percentage of the population are "into" it. oh yeah.. the url must've changed somehow... http://img275.echo.cx/img275/5923/highdefinition23zn.gif that should work P.S. most browsers cache images, so the image only ever needs to downloaded once, after that, all accessing is done locally on your machine, hence reduces the load on the server.. unless you format or flush your cache everytime you visit the site

DavoNogo Posted June 27, 2005 Author Posted June 27, 2005 the 20k limit obviously has dial-up users in mind... a 900k limit, or better still no limit at all, would be aimed at broadband users. this forum is mainly about FTA digital television - how many people of the 10,000 members here do you think have a hdtv? excluding the guests of course. my avatar is also related to hdtv
