laurie Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 I dont know what worse ATO or banks? no thinking about it it has to be the Banks first they told us by using the internet we can save on fees guess what Bull$hit!! the Commonwealth Bank now has slugged internet users with fees for each transaction and the rest will follow shortly and guess what who's paying for the golden handshake for the ex CEO US cheers laurie
DrP Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Not only is the concept complete BS, the price - 50 cents a pop - is ludicrous.
zorg1503559539 Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 that sucks badly considering all the $ they have saving closing branches and reducing staff etc where is the ACCC???? I hate banks with a passion...
DavoNogo Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 don't forget, the second you withdraw a little too much than you have in your account, some banks will instantly charge you, and they will keep on charging you a "dishonour fee" until you get yourself out of debt. IMO, THE MOST STUPIDEST WAY OF GETTING SOMEONE OUT OF DEBT!!!
ando9185 Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 The other month, I happened to make a large purchase on my credit card, I was intending to pay it off the next day. Unfortunately the day of my purchase, coincided with the day the bank decided to take fees from me, which then took me just over my limit (about $1), which then gave them a reason to charge me the dishonour fee. As for the netbank charges, that is complete BS, as I'm doing what they all wanted and using the net to do my banking, it is handy, I pay all my bills and rent etc... specifically to avoid charges.
gusangora Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Not only do they charge $0.50 for each transaction, but another $0.50 if the payment is to a third party! I usually pay my staff's wages via Netbank, and if they don't bank Commonwealth, it cost me a dollar each transaction. Disgusting. I recently bought a Philips Pronto Pro NG TSU 7000 from the USA. Not only did I get charged an international transaction fee by the CBA, but the Mastercard corporation charged an exchange fee as well! Totalled almost $35 in fees. Luckily, I am very happy with the new remote.
laurie Posted July 20, 2005 Author Posted July 20, 2005 I think I will use the Post Office to pay most bills the bloody prick$! cheers laurie
Tweet Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Where once if you had more than $20,000 in the bank (CBA) you would not be charged bank fees, they have now raised that threshold to $50,000 !!! Mafia ! C.M
DavoNogo Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 I think I will use the Post Office to pay most bills the bloody prick$! cheers laurie <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If your bills are set up via direct debit and you pay via the Post Office, the company doing the debiting will sometimes charge you an 80c Processing Fee! It's a good thing the "normal" bills don't do that...
laurie Posted July 20, 2005 Author Posted July 20, 2005 I went to my local branch of the CBA to see the manager and was told to join the mile long line it appears this has hit a nerve with most people anyhow after 1.5hrs I was asked what I'm here for and I said to "Close my accounts"! I came out with NO FEES cheers laurie
DavoNogo Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 I came out with NO FEES <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yeah it's hilarious, they do everything in their power to make your banking life miserable, but as soon as you want to leave, they make it as painless as possible
Foggy Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 yeah it's hilarious, they do everything in their power to make your banking life miserable, but as soon as you want to leave, they make it as painless as possible <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They don't want you unless you're gonna take out a massive mortgage. I'll have the last laugh tomorrow when my mortgage is finally paid off.

Foggy Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Great news foggy when I paid off my loan many years ago I sent my manager a small gift to say thanks for the grief they gave me......it was a vibrator I kid you not cheers laurie <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I like your style laurie. My bank manager might get a bag of something that comes out of one of the places that your present can be used.
Tweet Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 ........Although future credit may be an issue for you if you leave 'your' DNA. I think it's time for the 'Banks' to be re-regulated or the Federal Government establish a 'People's Bank' without fees. Self-regulation just doesn't work. C.M
betty boop Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Anyone want to start a bank with me ? I was thinking of calling it Pyramid ! you know, for every dollar put in, the bank teller helps them selves to 5c, there supervisor to 10c and I pocket 20c. The rest of the money we keep in the bank just incase the share holders want any part of it. Oh the customer ? totally forgot about them !
tonymy01 Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Haven't any of you heard of credit unions? I have been very happy with Police Credit union, no fees whatsoever (ok, so they made some changes recently, and fees do happen if you exceed some rather large number of transactions..)
laurie Posted July 21, 2005 Author Posted July 21, 2005 Haven't any of you heard of credit unions? Lol Tony give it time they will follow!! cheers laurie
laurie Posted July 21, 2005 Author Posted July 21, 2005 I think it's time for the 'Banks' to be re-regulated or the Federal Government establish a 'People's Bank' without fees. C.M True but when they floated the CBA the idea was to get Mum & Dad investors interested and buy shares so that when they increased fees they say you as an investor are getting it back in dividends same with Telstra and every one here that has SUPER the fees for that will make the banks look like angels! cheers laurie
gusangora Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Wont affect me....I dont use the internet <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Very funny!
