Nakamichi Dragon from 1982-1995 was one of the finest cassette decks ever made. I think it is one of the best looking, too....:love

Sonus Amati Anniversario speakers are one of the prettiest speakers from a maker renowned for beautiful speakers. And they apparently sound pretty good, too;)

Ahhhh Nostalgia, I remember Lecson well, It's a pity they did not sound as good as they looked.

Reliability not particularly good either, in fact it was shocking.

OT If anybody has AC1, AP1/AP3 and wants a copy of the manual please PM me.

Lecson made a range of Power Amps, AP1, AP1X, AP2, AP3, AP3X & AP4, only the AP3X and AP4 could be considered a success.

All but the AP4 used the same cylindrical shape. The AP4 was Class A to 70 watts before going A/B to 125 Watts, these looked like an early version of a Levinson or Krell type. In 1979 it was not really what the market wanted or the public expected.

Lecson also made Tuners, Speakers & MC Pre Pre Amps.

Lecson AC1 preamplifier and Lecson AP1 power amplifier from around 1974. This was a design from England, from Bob Stuart and Allen Boothroyd. In 1977 they formed Boothroyd Stuart, better known as Meridian Audio.

Very sexy, indeed.

I know that this has probably appeared on the Tantalising Turntables thread, but this should be given a run...

Heres a bit of interest from the designers son, Michael Gammon, found when seeking the pic...

My father designed the Hydraulic Reference turntable in 1964. Prior to filming of A Clockwork Orange, the late Stanley Kubrick visited my father at his Borehamwood factory and asked him if he could purchase a Hydraulic Reference turntable for the film. My father gave it to him for free. The turntable can be seen in Alex's room and at the end of the film. (When the Minister surprised Alex by playing the 9th).

In 1973 Transcriptors was relocated to Ireland, my father issued John A Michell a license to produce the table under the Michell logo. Michell was to have paid my father for each turntable he made. Up to this day, he has never paid a thing. An interesting note is that the turntable that was used in the film went missing.

At the beginning of 2002 I was in contact with the WB film studio regarding using a photo from ACO. I told them about when Stanley Kubrick came to the factory and asked for one of our turntables. I also said that a picture would look nice on the web site as part of our company’s history. They turned around, said no, and hung up on me.

My father gave a turntable to the Museum of Modern Art in NY during the early seventies as a gift. It is also in various museums through out the world. It is not on display at the moment, as they are expanding, but hopefully will be back on display in 2003.

Gotta love Warner Bros - fair swap of a pic for a TT?

You'd think so, Nudey :D Last year was a letdown, though. All she gave me was a mouldy old ham and some port which tasted like it had been cooked...:D

Schroeder Reference tonearm. These are hand made by one man, Frank Schroeder. Waiting times were over 2 years. They now are virtually impossible to get, as Frank is apparently in poor health. Get well, Frank
