Paranoid666au Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Oh and are we going to get this console this year... or Aussies get left out yet again? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Xbox 360 will be released in Australia erly next year, probably March. Unfortunatly where left out of the European launch which is December 2. US are getting it on November 22.
shinrai Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 An early report: http://www.halomovienews.com/xbox360.php 360 sounds great.
Obitus1503559585 Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 XBOX Quite expensive too - XBOX 360 Aus Pricing <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't need to wait fortunately, I have someone sending me over the premium package from the states with about 5 titles.
ejm Posted November 15, 2005 Author Posted November 15, 2005 Look at the nintendo revolution specs below... CPU Processor: (1) IBM Custom PowerPC 2.5 GHz dual-core Cache: 256 KB L1 cache, 1 MB of L2 cache (an L3 cache is rumored) 13 billion dot product operations per second Revolution memory 512 MB of 700 MHz 1T-SRAM Revolution GPU Core: ATI Custom based RN520 core (the "N" stands for Nintendo, and is apparently because the ArtX team is with them) GPU core at 600 MHz Resolution: Support up to 2048x1268 pixels HD support: Still being decided Memory: 256 MB of 1T-SRAM (the RAM is supposedly better due to some "tweaking" compared to GC’s RAM. The latency, around 1.2 ns on average, and cells are much more efficient and faster). Pipelines: 32 parallel floating-point dynamically scheduled shader pipelines. Polygon Performance: 500 million triangles per second theoretical, average in-game would be <100 million/sec Shader Performance: ~50 billion shader operations per second Other Info Revolution will support a PPU chip (Physical Processing Chip). There will be 32 MB of its own RAM, which will link to the CPU and GPU and the controller. There will also be a separate sound card that will support only DD 5.1 - DTS 7.1 (rumor has it with 16 MB, like the Nintendo Cube DSP) . I'm getting the ps3 and the nintendo revolution now.
Drugsy Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 I don't need to wait fortunately, I have someone sending me over the premium package from the states with about 5 titles. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How much is that costing you all up?
Arc1503559859 Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 I'm disappointed in the misinformed posts in this thread but yours is most disappointing! PGR3 not running in hi def? Do you know anything! All Xbox 360 games support 720p! And in case you have been living under a rock, PG3's graphics look awesome. You obviously have access to the internet, why don't you go to a gaming site and check it out for your self. I'll even help you! -> http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/741/741362/vids_1.html <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He's talking about the fact that PGR3 is apparently only running in 600p.. there is a thread over at GAF talking about it Link

bigbishop1503560095 Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 have a look at this PlayStation 3 won’t play used games???
ejm Posted November 15, 2005 Author Posted November 15, 2005 Where did you get those specs form? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> A google search, can't remember the exact site though, think it was IGN or something.
bigbishop1503560095 Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Here's a few more Sony idea's here
ejm Posted November 15, 2005 Author Posted November 15, 2005 The xbox360 might be better on paper but I will get the ps3 because of the games, I just like sony's games more than microsoft's.
Bronx19 Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 The xbox360 might be better on paper but I will get the ps3 because of the games, I just like sony's games more than microsoft's. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, the PS3 is far better on the spec sheet.
Kirium Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 I had the original PSX and now a PS2 (and just bought Resident Evil 4... Awesome ) I love my Gran Turismo, but in the end, I'll buy whatever has better games and less DRM bullsh!t, like outputting HD only via HDCP HDMI and not component or having to have your console permanently connected to the internet. Right now, that's not looking like the PS3 with Sony's ongoing crusade against consumers. I can live with Forza motorsport... And as long as the 360 has a good survival horror game in the mould of RE or Silent Hill, I'll be happy. I think DRM will be one of the determining factors on what machine wins the hearts and minds of consumers. who really gives a toss about wether the machine can do 2 teraflops or not... DRM will decide if Sony have wasted billions on Bluray and is shunned by consumers. Hopefully Toshiba are a bit smarter. If not, no-one will buy either of them.
betty boop Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 seems a fair bit of support for the xbox 360 vs the ps3. Bit suprised to see that actually. I don't hold a view on either actually. Wondering is there any anti sony sentiment at play here ? or do many people genuinely feel the xbox 360 poses a better proposition ?
billabong33 Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Personally I have had good expereinces with Sony products and not so good with Bill gates..... PS2 was good so they've won me over with that.
ejm Posted November 15, 2005 Author Posted November 15, 2005 Personally I have had good expereinces with Sony products and not so good with Bill gates.....PS2 was good so they've won me over with that. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes thats why i'm going to stick with sony is because I have had a sony tv which lasted 9yrs and i got the ps2 when it first come out and i pulled it off the shelf and sony fixed it free of charge. I'm also getting a felling that sony is not very well liked here
DavoNogo Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 And as long as the 360 has a good survival horror game in the mould of RE or Silent Hill, I'll be happy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not exactly RE or SH, but DR might tickle your fancy http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/dea...tml?sid=6129805 And Silent Hill 2 and 4 were both on the original Xbox, so I wouldn't be surprised if a later sequel were to appear on the 360: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/adventure/sil...q=silent%20hill http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/adventure/sil...q=silent%20hill Oh, I just noticed, Resident Evil 5 will be on Xbox 360: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/adventure/...resident%20evil Don't forget to check out the screenies and trailer.
shinrai Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Yep, Sony's approach to DRM and total disrespect for the end user is swaying me away from the ps3. Also the FACT that it will be out 1 year later than the 360 has to be a significant factor. And that i have a high def tv ready and waiting.

Bronx19 Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 How can it output a resolution of 2048x1268 and HD not be decided? Think people, those specs are pure garbage, the revolution will not support HD.
Pogi Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 PS3 will win hands down..its games will carry it across the finish line as always
Kirium Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 PS3 will win hands down..its games will carry it across the finish line as always <{POST_SNAPBACK}> One suspects the 360 may already have finished and be enjoying the spoils of victory before the PS3 has even warmed up for the race with the 1year+ release date difference. I really want the PS3 to be better (i own Sony KVHR and another Sony wega 4:3 TV, and the PSX and PS2, and a Sony digital camera.. so i'm not shy about liking Sony product), but for reasons I mentioned above, I think the 360 might just get my money. Sony haven't done themselves any favors lately with the Rootkit fiasco and talk of DRM measures they want to try with Bluray..
