waratahbay Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 I have to run DVI, component and S-VHS leads each over 5 metres in a new house. Will there be significant signal degradation over this length if I buy quality cables? Your advice appreciated.
Darrylp Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 Five meters on DVI and S-video should be fine. I've had to install a DVI booster but I'm running 15m. Depending on your display device, DVI cable quality does make a very significant difference.
dvduser Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 I'm running 10mtr DVI/Component/S-Video etc. - now worries. Got a Lindy 10Mtr DVI and it works fine. You might want to try www.lindy.com.au or www.htcustomcables.com to see the lengths you need.
RichardN Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 As mentioned you should be ok with 5m. Had a chat with Steve at Eastwood hifi about this. He mentioned they had some problems running HDMI to a projector, not sure on length, but then upgraded to a better quality cable (at about $A500!) and all was well. He mentioned that you shouldn't have any problems with any of the analogue cables.
