Stevob Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Dunno about the rest of you guys/gals, but I'm sick & tired of the crap Hollywood churns out. Remakes, #2 movies, typical "American spirit" movies etc sh!t me to tears. Do you ever sit back after reading a good book and think, "Geez, that'd make a good movie". Well, I think that "Magician" by Raymond Feist would make an awesome couple of movies if done properly. What do you think?
mello yello Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 What do you think? 11 PM on a Sunday night and you want me to think Id like to see "Just Add It As You Go" made into a 3 part Mini-Series edit: watch for another Hitchcockesque Cameo appearance shortly........thats all I can disclose at this stage......(still in negotiations you know...very hush hush)

I think I know what Hollywood would do to it (think the recent interpretation of "War of the Worlds") but one that would make a good movie would be "Footfall" by Niven & Pournelle.

Well, I think that "Magician" by Raymond Feist would make an awesome couple of movies if done properly. What do you think? I haven't bothered seeing a movie at the cinemas for almost a year. Just not interested with what's been coming out. Used to see heaps, just had enough of the same crap. Why don't they double the length of time they spend on the scripts from 5min to 10min. They'll be heaps better! And get someone from outside of the industry to read the script. They've lost touch with what's good. Rob Edited January 8, 2006 by BigBobOz
Stevob Posted January 8, 2006 Author Posted January 8, 2006 ..."Footfall" by Niven & Pournelle. Asimov's Foundation series? Looks like some good reading coming up for me soon.
Dork(original) Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Stephen Hawking A brief history of time.A bloody mind blowing film this would be. Paul
blairy Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 The Spike - Arnaud de Borchgrave and Robert Moss
DrP Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Hollywood would completely screw up a film translation of Footfall and pretty well any other decent book. You only have to look at the recent crappola offerings that have been pouring out of late. Leave them to their silly video game into movie fad, let everyone else get on with the real job of reading the books.
pgdownload Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Steven King - The Dark Tower series. And just for the challange, the abridged 2hr version of all 7? books Regards Peter Gillepsie
Stevob Posted January 9, 2006 Author Posted January 9, 2006 Mein Kampf? You idiot. Hollywood would completely screw up a film translation of Footfall and pretty well any other decent book. You only have to look at the recent crappola offerings that have been pouring out of late. Leave them to their silly video game into movie fad, let everyone else get on with the real job of reading the books. Doesn't have to be from Hollywood. Did anyone see "Little Fish"? The problem with Hollywood is that all the money is in Hollywood, U.S.A.
G M Fude Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle's Footfall was mentioned earlier, and that would make a good movie; but how about Niven's Ringworld? Steve
kootaberra Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle's Footfall was mentioned earlier, and that would make a good movie; but how about Niven's Ringworld?Steve Concur. also the 'Dragons of Pern' books by Anne McCaffrey.
Nevyn72 Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 E E 'Doc' Smith's "Lensman" series would probably be juvenile and gung-ho enough for Hollywood to have a go at..... Don't know about "Ringworld" though, probably "The mote in God's eye" would be a better choice.
DavoNogo Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 In response to: http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showtop...st=0&p=324767 Have they made any movies out of those ye old "choose your own adventure" books yet? No? Oh well... Guess I'll have to wait till next Century...The great thing about it is that each viewing will be different from the last, unless you're an idiot and keep choosing the same adventure over and over again... The only problem is, who gets to choose which way the adventure goes? And then they take it one step further so that the movie "interacts" with your brain, so when you start thinking, "what would happen if a dragon suddenly appeared", you get to watch it out on the big screen (or a 360 degree screen, or even a holographic display, if that would be the norm at the time) and it will continuously play out what your thinking until you get bored and everyone dies. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0460746/ - looks like it's already been done
Tweet Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 (edited) I just recently picked up the old black and white TV series of "The Andy Griffith's Show " at $3 a disc at Big W, what a laugh those characters were. Brought back so many memories.........if only the original characters were alive today as they were then........in a full length movie (in colour). C.M Edited January 18, 2006 by Tweet
