LCD's generally still as I said aren't winning me over in:

1. Colour

2. Contrast

3. Handling of non-HD signals

4. Pricee

BUT the new Samsungs and Bravia's have really impressed me, that been said I still just prefer the image of the plasma, it just stands out more to me.?

----------------------

You forgot

5. MOTION BBBBBLLLLUUUUURRRRRRR!!!!

6. Skin Tones

7. No Black

8. Off axis performance

I prefer the colour and hues of the best plasmas overall by far, but the LCD Bravia and Samsung have a cleaness and punch from a distance that has lately been inviting me to take a closer look at LCD as I zero in on a big purchase. But then there's Blur... yes its there still... and still no real Blacks. I went to JB Parramatta last week, and I looked at their wall of plasmas to the left and they looked dull! Then I looked to the right and the LCDs all looked so bright and punchy, the plasmas looked like old sepia toned black and white prints! OK thats going a bit far... I know with my $5000 it would easily still be a Pana or Pio plasma.

However a breakthru LCD is about to give Plasma a kick in the pixels in July - check out the Philips 42PF9831D. Ive seen it, if only for 10 mins! Couldnt fault it in any way! Skin - Colour - Blacks - based on the Philips demo. See the thread, I've just posted more details in NEW Philips LCD thread

As for SED and OLED get real. Lets talk about what we can buy this year! Not maybe next year or later, more likely. Oh, we should have a man on Mars and a Topfield HD PVR by then...

Until I physically see a Canon brand 55" SEDtv on display at work for $2500, i'll be sceptical.

2006-2007 for Jap & US markets, add another year for Australia.

Yeah it suck, 1 year extra for us. If you are looking for 1080p i would wait. it will be a while before TV's really start utalising 1080P and i know that by being the first to have it you can be like,

"720p don't make me laugh, i have 1080p"

but anyhow for the moment 720p is good enough for me. i will get SED when it arrives in a few years and that will be a big step up from Samsung LA32M61b LCD. so that is somethign big to look forward to.
