Cinamax Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 James, I wouldn't do that as it will effectively be seen as advertising and may consequently get the entire thread deleted. If people want the spreadsheet they should probably contact you directly via PM or email. Ah good point, sorry for throwing that out there, i am happy for people who want it to contact me! Thanks Foggy
ramius Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Gee this went quiet I note the screens are now on Ebay - anybody seen one or have other news? Bill
Cinamax Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Gee this went quietI note the screens are now on Ebay - anybody seen one or have other news? Bill Hey Bill you're right, - Did i offend you all?? As far as news goes, a new stock order is placed and i will have more tab's in 16:9 by christmas, in 90" as well. The new control units are being manufactured so they will hook up with the current sensor to activate the screens, and projector lifts, via a hub. I will keep you posted as new info comes to hand. Thanks Guys for the support! James
bwilson Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Hey guys, In my haste to find tab tensioned goodness I went ahead and ordered the 100" one. I decided to measure up last night and . Seems I was a little ambitious! While i could probably fit it in I feel its going to look a little cramped and compromise the overall look. As a result I'm hoping to exchange for a 90". If anyone is in WA and interested in one of the tab tensioned screens then theres an opportunity to see one in the flesh now. Bruce
ramius Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 So then, why have TAB TENSIONED SCREENS if the regular 300 dollar cheap screens sit so flat ?It makes no sense at all to pay $1,600 for a tab tensioned screen when it sits as flat as the regular motorised screens. It would of course make no sense at all - but the reason that suppliers make tab-tensioned screens and that people buy them is obviously that standard screens normally are not flat. Some screens are better than others - but i have never seen a standard screen that is dead flat (noting that ideas of what constitutes "dead flat" may vary)
Guest EZYHD Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 "I have a 100" Cinescreen off eBay can't falt it, no wrinkles works great, its motorised, screen gain is 1.2, think they sell now for around $300."AND A) Mine is dead flat. So, I ask you, does it have edge curl ? A) No egde curl in mine after 5 months of use Does it have any ripples ? A) None So then, why have TAB TENSIONED SCREENS if the regular 300 dollar cheap screens sit so flat ? It makes no sense at all to pay $1,600 for a tab tensioned screen when it sits as flat as the regular motorised screens. As above mine is a 100" Cinescreen and perfect too.
lacehim Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Mine has slight edge curl, but you would have to be damn piccy to be worried about it. I'm happy with mine. For the few hundred dollars I paid for a 92" it keeps the screen up and out of the way of any childrens sticky fingers! The screen material is quite thick and I can't imagine it rippling like some I've seen at the local HN store.
Foggy Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 James, Can you please tell us more about the screen material used in the tab tensioned screens. Is it better quality or the same as the one used in the standard motorised screens? What is the gain? Is it "comparable" to another popular screen?

Hi Foggy, The material is much 'thinner' and it has a more of a elastic feel to it, which coupled with a much heavier weight bar this causes the material to hang dead flat and helps with the tab tensioned sides (thicker material would not work as the tension required to pull the sides flat would be much greater) The gain is 1.0. The screen is very 'comparable' to the manufacturer on the circuit board

norpus Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Do they block out 100% of light?I want to put one in frotn of (over) a window. I found yes, apart from what leaks around the side (seeing as it did not sit absolutely flush to the wall in my case) However would definitely not recommend for a north or west facing window, as the hot sun on the black backing will make for extreme temps and would be bad for any material

norpus Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Thanks James, now.... when did you say you were getting them in 2.37:1?! I believe he will know soon I asked him if he could mask (or we could diy) a 136" screen to 2.37 ratio (with suitable paint or whatever) to give us the 3m width screen we want for CIH Foggy. He said he is investigating today
Cinamax Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Hi Guys, James here from Cinamax, The Tab Tensions are HERE!!! Finally after all the messing about with different materials, we have the Tensions screens available for sale!!! Currently I have 6 x 100" 16:9's in stock (5 in Gloss White and 1 in Matt Black) this is to see how the market reacts to this product and if positive (which i think will happen) we will be landing other sizes in container loads. This model has a IR Reciever on a telephone style plug which can be located anyware, no need to have the control unit in view anymore, these currently don't have the 12v trigger as we have shelved this idea for a current sensing device you plug the projector into, we are finalising the circuitry for this and in the new Cinescreen V5 model will come with that as standard, also future TAB Tensions will have this also, but for now we have the tried and true IR! Not sure how to put pics in here so if anybody can help me do this i would appreciate it! Pricing will be $1599 on e*ay, but for DTV members as thanks for you help in the past $1250 Including freight and GST. Email me through here if interested and also 1300 78 99 74 to find further info. Hi Guys, Chrisy special for anybody contemplating Tab Tension. $899 Delivered, only a couple left, act quick if you want one. Have a great holiday season, wishing you all the best. Thanks James

The_Preacher1973 Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 As a side note I just bought a teb tensioned screen from ebay to go with the Marantz 720P for my parents. I'll post my thoughts on it next week. Here it is: Vision Tab Tensioned Screen

Whilst I don't anticipate changing my Stewart Greyhawk Electriscreen for one of these, I look forward to your review!
Foggy Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Whilst I don't hold much hope for the quality of these budget tab tensions, I do look forward to your incisive commentary Preach.... bring out the Clarkson cliches in their full glory.... and (hopefully) without fear of legal threat
shockvalue Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 Hi Everyone I am about to install a BrightVision 120" Tab Tensioned motorised screen that like Preacher I bought off the "bay" for a similar price. They look fairly similar from the pics although branded differently. I'll post a bit of a review when I have it up and working. I have an Epson TW2000 that I'll be using with it. http://cgi.ebay.com.au:80/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...em=360052947808
