Bronal Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 Are you interested in selling the 'phones separately?
markeroonie Posted November 1, 2009 Author Posted November 1, 2009 not unless there is someone else who just wants the amp
markeroonie Posted November 6, 2009 Author Posted November 6, 2009 one of the final bumps, on Ebay with 3 days to go...
Bronal Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 (edited) todays bump.why no interest? Since you asked, because I think your asking price is too high. Also, Stax is very much a niche market in headphones. Most people prefer dynamic 'phones, because of the variety of 'phones and amps available, and the fact that they are cheaper. You can get a pair of K701s and and good amp for under $1 000. I'm not saying that dynamics are any better - after owning K701s, W5000s, etc I think my Stax SRM-007t/Lamdas walk all over them (except for bass punch, which may be exaggerated in dynamics anyway) - I don't think they are. Bronal Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 PS: you would do better advertising these on Head-Fi. A 240v Stax amp is relatively uncommon.
ford Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 todays bump.why no interest? Can buy all new from Japan for around $1700.00. Your price is on the high side, that is why no interest.
ford Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 PS: you would do better advertising these on Head-Fi. A 240v Stax amp is relatively uncommon. Is it a factory 240v amp,or modified.
markeroonie Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 Is it a factory 240v amp,or modified. it's a factory amp, but modified. apparently just needed a spot of rewiring. on ebay i see the similar setup can be had for $2217, including shipping, but then there will be customs and gst added, taking it to around $2500?

STAX SRM-006TA $1169 + $80 postage STAX Signature(SR-404) $527 + Free postage. All new from Japan Total $1776 including postage.
markeroonie Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 you might was well share the site then, I couldn't find anything quickly other than ebay customs and gst will still take it up a bit, but your point is valid
jrisles Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 STAX SRM-006TA $1169 + $80 postageSTAX Signature(SR-404) $527 + Free postage. All new from Japan Total $1776 including postage. Most likely from PriceJapan? If this is the case you will also find that the amp they sell is a 110V amp only not 240v. But if changing the amp from 110v to 240v is pretty simple? Then the PriceJapan offer is pretty attractive. http://www.pricejapan.com/front/e_result_goods.php How old is the unit?
markeroonie Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 (edited) the unit is about 18 months or so old. looking at the pricejapan site they don't give a price for my amp, but the headspeakers are the same price as i found on ebay, so Ford must know somewhere a fair bit cheaper Edited November 11, 2009 by markeroonie
ford Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Just a quick search was all. $490au now.Here::http://cgi.ebay.com.au/STAX-SR-404-Signature-Electrostatic-earspeaker-NEW_W0QQitemZ290364058743QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item439b0bec77 And Amp Here::http://cgi.ebay.com.au/STAX-SRM-006TA-DRIVER-UNIT-HEADPHONE-AMP_W0QQitemZ390116211867QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5ad4bcfc9b I am not trying to screw your sale, only to answer your question as to why there was no interest. I expect that if both were ordered together from Japan then the price could be lower.
Bronal Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Guys: I don't think there's any point in arguing about price. markeroonie wants $1 500 for the set, so I guess it's best to leave things at that...

No one is arguing, the OP wanted to know why there was no interest and an answer was given, in a straight forward and polite manner.
markeroonie Posted November 12, 2009 Author Posted November 12, 2009 there is a difference between wanting and getting, I do understand that. $1500 is what i want, ok? it's currently on ebay starting from $1250. also a bird in the hand etc etc. my set is here in au, has been sighted by another member, is working, no transformer, extra cable, no gst or import duty or potential ebay hassles thanks for taking the time to read and be interested
markeroonie Posted November 14, 2009 Author Posted November 14, 2009 bump with price drop, now only $1250
