ravenit Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 Been looking to get my first projector and can get the tw600 at a good price with the spair lamp but I see on epsons web there is a tw700 on its way may hold out for a bit if its not too far away. Wold like to go for the Sanyo z5 but cant find a suplier here in adelaide. Apart from that the Panasonic ax100 as build issues for some and the sony hs60 is too expensive still. So if anyone has a release date that would be great Thanks

ravenit Posted October 30, 2006 Author Posted October 30, 2006 Thanks but rather buy from a local dealer found the dealers from the epson website and all but one dont even know about the projector. Still about one week until delivery apparently.
kaflugal Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I tried to buy a TW600 locally in Adelaide, no one stocked it anywhere, so just just bought one from Ausmedia, No point in buying locally as when something goes wrong you will have to send it to a local service repair shop anyway. Thats where the shop where you buy it from will send it anyway, My tw600 ended up at the adelaide service depot authorised by epson for servicing projectors. Had some more issues crop up after it was fixed, so it went back again to be fixed. Now waiting for a replacement projector from epson. I was just unlucky with the unit I initially bought. Epson have a good service record when it comes to repairs and service, 2 years warranty for a projector is great, something other projector brands can learn from, that only offer 1 year. I do recommend the tw600, it's a very good projector, I think it's getting replaced by the tw620, the tw700 will be at the top of epson list till the tw1000 arrives. If you want service backup in adelaide go epson as they are fixed locally.
lacehim Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 What's the TW700 selling for? I couldn't find a price from the ausmedia site anywhere!
50mxe20 Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 What's the TW700 selling for? I couldn't find a price from the ausmedia site anywhere! $2,799?
kaflugal Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Price on Ausmedia is listed at 2799 for tw700.
ccsa Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 ...No point in buying locally ... Agree, except when one felt owed to the local guy after receiving good service from him Price on Ausmedia is listed at 2799 for tw700. Does this price include a 100" fixed frame screen, that they listed $749 but selling at $300 to all PJ buyers?
lacehim Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I bought my TW600 from HN. Could probably have got it online, but being out bush it's probably best just to haggle locally and support them or they won't be there when you need them the most. In the end wasn't all bad because I got discounts when I went back to buy cables and a DVD player. Anyway from I can see the look of the TW700s spec from ausmedia there isn't that much difference. Bit more zoom is probably the most noticable and the case is exactly the same.
kjb Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 A little off-topic, but it beats me why the tw1000 (1080p) isnt generating more excitement, specially if the proposed Japanese/Us list prices carry over into Oz. See: http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/11/epsons-...-with-hdmi-1-3/
ravenit Posted November 5, 2006 Author Posted November 5, 2006 Anyway from I can see the look of the TW700s spec from ausmedia there isn't that much difference. Bit more zoom is probably the most noticable and the case is exactly the same. I believe the contrast has been beefed up to 10000 somehow, pitty no one has one yet to get a home viewer review on
ravenit Posted November 6, 2006 Author Posted November 6, 2006 just found out that the epson tw700 has a promo going on with a free car fridge and picknic pack (what the) must be wanting to get us out of the house after watching so many movies. lol
funkybits Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 If anyone finds an online review - please let me know as I can't find any. In the US it's known as the Pro Cinema 810
Black_Magic Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Found a review at HCC here: http://www.homecinemacentral.com.au/epson_tw700_review.htm They also have a comparison between it and the Pana PT-AX100E and the Sanyo Z5 here: http://www.homecinemacentral.com.au/contrast_review.html It's definitely the same as the american Pro Cinema 810 also, this is a quote from the american user manual: Model: EMP-TW700 Marketing Name: PowerLite Pro Cinema 810 Link is here: http://files.support.epson.com/pdf/plpc81/plpc81ug.pdf According to HCC it's almost as bright as the pana and is sharper so unless you like smooth screen, the TW700 looks to be the better projector. The Z5 is apparently still better though if you don't need the brightness. The nicest thing is the american RRP is $2999 US and we get it for around $2800 AU
funkybits Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Cheers for those links Black Magic. Most interesting reading indeed - especially regarding the Lumens The Epson has 2 years warranty (+ an additional 6 months if you register on line). PainAssChronic has 12 months The Epson also has a much larger case than the PainAssChronic that to my mind means it should perform better at cooling the lamp (but I am making a huge assumption here).
glennb Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 One of the biggest things for me when shopping for LCD PJ's of the previous models, was the fan noise. I still think that this should be considered when buying, as the TW600 that I have has 3 different fan speeds depending on a few settings, and on the lowest it is still audible to the point of intruding on certain movies.
kaflugal Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 I said in an earlier post about the issues I had with my TW600, I have since recieved a TW700 as a replacement from Epson, sometimes good does come from getting a bad unit at least with Epson. They do have service to backup their products unlike some other brands (Epson are serviced locally in Adelaide). Having now tried both models, I can say that the TW700 has even better image quality. The new contrast ratio making images really leap of the screen. The images projected seem to be around 5-10% brighter using the theatre modes, than the TW600 I had. The lens zoom range is really useful now. If your waiting to get that home theatre projector in the $2700 to $2900 range, this is a great one to get, there's no way I'll buy a plasma now, for movie watching.
