50mxe20 Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 I've actually been reading the forum as a guest since Monday, trying to catch up and resisting the temptation to just jump at random threads. In the end, I realised that it's a futile exercise, and today has been a flood of my useless additions to our little corner of cyberspace. And how have you all been? Over indulging as usual. A feud here and there. As per usual. All good fun though.
Aloysius Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Thanks Lyle. I'd hardly call last-minute-mad-rush-renovations-in-Adelaide-followed-by-moving-and-unpacking-in-another-country a holiday, but yeah, something like that. I've actually been reading the forum as a guest since Monday, trying to catch up and resisting the temptation to just jump at random threads. Yep, welcome back MM, a good break?
Mining Man Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Over indulging as usual. A feud here and there. As per usual. All good fun though. I remember posting in that HD is a waste thread. What a monster that turned out to be?!?! I've only bothered to read the first 3 and last 3 pages. It just got too tiring. Probably a lot more fun at the time.

Santa1503559644 Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Did you see those icebergs MM? I'm starting to worry a lot about global cooling - I don't recall icebergs floating past NZ in my lifetime Not that again Al!!! Here's a tip, Al ... buy a nice big block of ice. Then let it heat up. Guess what? It may just break up as it melts. Not too hard to grasp*, is it! __________________________ *Not the ice you clown! The concept!
Aloysius Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Not that again Al!!! Here's a tip, Al ... buy a nice big block of ice. Then let it heat up. Guess what? It may just break up as it melts. Not too hard to grasp*, is it! __________________________ *Not the ice you clown! The concept! You a ventriloquist? MM lives there and may be able to add something to the conversation. Oh, and another tip: If the block of ice takes a long time to melt, it just may be that the water it is 90% submerged in is actually cooler than it was in the recent past. Think about it, any other possible explanation that comes to mind?. Not too hard to grasp, is it! NZ is half way between the pole and the equator - that's a fair distance really, and here we are seeing icebergs drifting past - Oh my goodness
Groover ! Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Does it count that I'm half-an-hour ahead of you ?Getting any rain, Speaking of which, where's MM when you need him ?? Austen. We have had plenty in the last 2 days ............... okay so I'm gonna start this mornings again am I ?
Austen Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 (edited) We have had plenty in the last 2 days ............... okay so I'm gonna start this mornings again am I ? So there I was, surfing the DTV Forum, and I heard it......... Ringggggggggggggggggggggggggg.............. With a simultaneous.................. WhoooooooooooWhooooooooooWhoooooooooooo It was around 2.00am, so I went on the balcony and saw the building across the way was on fire had the fire warnings happening. Experience told me that within 10 minutes two or three fire engines would be arriving, so it wasn't any good going to bed just then !!!!! Fortunately ...I was awake anyhow......Bad luck for the people in the other 150 rooms !!!!! Dark and noisy out there!!!!!! Austen. Edited January 19, 2007 by Austen
mello yello Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 We have had plenty in the last 2 days ............... okay so I'm gonna start this mornings again am I ? For those of you joining the thread late, Angelo is talking about rain Standby...Worthwhile post happening in 5 minutes ............. ....So where is it Austen ? Ive been up since 2 am waiting for it
DrP Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 NZ is half way between the pole and the equator - that's a fair distance really, and here we are seeing icebergs drifting past - Oh my goodness OK. Just to play along with this obviously well couched post, what happens when you drop a kilo of ice into a bucket of water? The ice melts and the bucket of water cools down. Time how long it takes for the kilo of ice to melt. After the initial ice has melted, throw another kilo in and note how long it takes to melt..... uh oh, it took longer. Of course the oceans are a bit more complex than that but bringing in discussions about changed deep ocean flow patterns causing unusual temperature variations at the surface and cold currents flowing at the surface is probably a little beyond the scope of this thread.
Austen Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 For those of you joining the thread late, Angelo is talking about rain ....So where is it Austen ? Ive been up since 2 am waiting for it No you haven't !!!!!!!!!!! But, anyhow, I edited the original post, not really worth a look, Unless you want to see what fire engines look like at 2.00am !!!!! Austen.
