I'm very interested in the 875, for pickup in Melbourne. I actually said the 805 in the email I sent to you yesterday, Harry - but have since been turned to the dark side by the Reon-VX - my wallet is going to hate me

Cheers, Giancarlo

Starting to think that these things will never arrive....

Anyone got an update on the release dates??

I spoke to a sales person at HN yesterday & they said the SR605 will be available from next week, so we should see final pricing from bigblue any day now.

I'm surprised Ambertech haven't annouced anything official regarding prices & availbility yet, so that makes me a little concerned.

Thats because Ambertech is really Castel in disguise...

Hi Guys, Really need some help. I am about to upgrade everything!! Starting with the AVR. Budget $2000. Need 3 zones. Looking at Yamaha RX-2700B and Onkyo SR805..

What would you recommend?

Is the only difference with the SR805 and SR875 10w/ch and the HQV Reon-VX Video Processing and NSV Precision Video?

I am tempted to go and get the yamaha, but each time I look at the onkyo stuff its seems just as good if not better so I think I should wait for the 805.

Cheers

For future proof, you should go with Onkyo SR805. But as everyone has stated before, you should listen to them first as the sound differs from brand to brand. I'm also tossing up between Onkyo 705 and Yamaha V661. (And that's why I'm keeping my eye on this thread every day to get the update from bigblue  )

I'll probably get shot down, but, if it comes down to Onkyo vs Yamaha, I'll always say Onkyo.

Can you specify a reason for this? Has your previous Yamaha done something bad?

*UPDATE*

I have final pricing from our retailer and Onkyo. FINALLY!

The good news is that we have bettered the indicative pricing originally supplied which im sure none of you will complain with!

To protect the group buy members, from this point on I will be PM'ing/emailing final pricing and details on the process etc to those who have expressed interest to purchase.

There is already stock of the 605's so these can ship immediately, while the 805 will ship in 1-2 weeks. The 875 and 905 delivery date will follow but I am still awating accurate ETAs (i have been told it could be the same time as the 805 or as long as 1 month later). Those considering ANY of the models should still look to get thier orders in now as stock may be constrained initially from what i have been told so it will be on a first-come first-serve basis (i will maintain a list of orders for each model).

There are a large amount of PM's and emails i have to sift through in order to send out the final details to those who what expressed interest and I will get this done as soon as I can (it wont be tonight unfortunately) with final pricing and the process to move forward.

Any questions, please let me know

CHeers

Hey All,

Sorry for not posting after work but had some other stuff to take care of. OK so what we all want to know, pricing for the upcoming Onkyo AV receivers and the group buy details.

The pricing is indicative at this point in time, but as i can attest to with the XE1 group buy, the indicative pricing proved to be pretty close to the final group buy price.

So here goes:

TX-SR605 (AUD RRP $1299) - $1,090

TX-SR805 (AUD RRP $2499) - $2,095

TX-SR875 (AUD RRP $3199) - $2,680

Now i still need to confirm, but I have been told the models are landed in Australia as of this week so distribution will not be far away! I will have the answer on this by Friday.

Given this is the case I would really like to get moving on getting a group buy together so we can get our recievers as early as possible so the ONKYO GROUP BUY IS OFFICIALLY OPEN!

The group buy is open to anyone in Australia as the retailer organises all the logistics with pickup available at local stores in all states as well as a courier delivery option for an additional fee. Pickup at a local stores in states other than Victoria still remains to be confirmed however but i believe this should be the case.

The final group buy price and the retailers details will not be made public to protect the Group Buyers buying power, changes to the above prices and all further details will only be sent to members who are committed to the above pricing and details as a 'worst case'.

Another thing this retailer is putting together for us is a group buy discount on an additional 4 yr warranty to the 1 yr onkyo provide, covering full repair or replacement for the total period of 5 years. This was offered for the previous group buy on the XE1s with the majority of members taking up this option due to the fact is was at close to 50% discount to the standard premium.

So what do we do from here?

If you are keen to get in on the group buy, please PM or email me on 'harry at bigblueit.com.au' with the following details:

1. Model of amp you are interested in.

2. State you are in

3. Pickup or courier delivery preferred

Any questions please let me know!

Cheers

Harry

It seems fantastic, I am interested in TX-SR605. Nevertheless, i havent got any knowledge of AV receiver. The purposes of purchase are getting start of AV and equipping for apparatus of playing PS3. Is it possible to tell me which model of speaker is suitable for new start user with TX-SR605. My budget is about $3 to $4k for a whole outfit.

Its best if you start a new thread elsewhere on which speaker to buy. This thread is for the group buy of the Onkyo AVR's.

Has anyone looking to buy the ONkyo AVR had experience with their Integra line of goodies?

I'm looking at the 9.8 pre-pro coming out but an AVR might be a suitable solution as well given the pricing options with a BB opportunity.

I'd like to know how/if they are of different quality or sound at all.

(Also, do the AVR's have a 12v trigger to power an ext amp?).

I'm in the USA with work for about 10 days. Just arrived today.

I just went to a Circuit City store, had a look and asked about the Onkyo TX-SR605 Receiver.

They had plenty of stock.

They were on sale at $US430 which is $A512 on todays currency!

Yes there's been talk on the US forum about the 605 being below peoples expectations of a receiver in terms of video scaling, but two things are relevant here, firstly Onkyo doesn't make any major claims to scaling on that model and secondly, what do folks expect for $512 Australian Dollars????

Well, over here anyway.

They were out of stock of the 805 and the sales guy said they had been very successful with that model even in a short time.

The AVS reports on that model seem really good from owners. Still no professional reviews though.

Lucky you.

It certainly annoys me that at $512 AU, yet we have to pay double that here. What a joke.

Did you plan on buying one while you are there?

The price is $600 AU in HK. As my consideration, I wanna purchase it in HK while I visit HK in Oct. I also decide to purchase subwoofer and central speaker as their prices are 30%off than here.

BTW, KEF iQ8ds for central and KEF iQ7 for Rear, does it sound good? (It seems over my budget, but never mind...haha)

I still consider which model of Velodyne is for subwoofer. And I have no idea which brand and model for front. could anyone give a brief comment on it?

No, I won't be buying while I'm here. Units are 110 Volt only plus wrong channel spacing for AM and FM plus no warranty in Oz.

I'm looking at getting the 875 which isn't shipping here yet either.

I'm looking forward to hearing what the group buy price on those is.

Thanks for your help Bigblue

Are those HK receivers 220/240 volt?

Yup, it is adopted 220/240 volts in HK.

BTW, is it appropriate to purchase IQ03, IQ07 and KEF iQ8ds? If so, which pair is suitable for rear?

The total weight of IQ03 and IQ07 is 12kg that i can purchase in HK. (the weight of 605 is 11.4kg, just pay the little fee for extra weight. The price is still attractable rather than purchase here)

PS ~ IQ3 costs $2500 HKD

IQ7 costs $5000 HKD + $1000 HKD for Air Delivery + Insurance to Melboure

IQ6C costs $2400 HKD

is anyone know the prices in Melbourne?

I am a new member to the forum, but have been "guesting' for several weeks and amazed at the significant amount of good feedback contained in the forum which is a testimony to the members.

I am looking for an AV receiver and have been interested the ONKYO 805 having monitored the US forums. Is it possible to include me on the Group Buy? (As a new member I have failed so far to send either email or PM to Bigblue as yet!)

I'm interested in the Onkyo but don't know what the differences are between these new models?.

Hoping it can be a local pickup and pay, as I'd like to support my local Onkyo dealer if possible.
