Pair of Osborn Interludes, finished in Bubinga.

Approximately 6 months old and the latest model.

I love these speakers but I have an urge I can't get rid of to build my own horn loudspeakers, so I wish to sell the Interludes to help finance this new endeavour (for anyone interested, I'll be starting with an easy BIB design, see http://www.zillaspeak.com/BIB.asp )

There has been plenty of discussion on this forum about how good these speakers are and from my experience I couldnt agree more, even though they are currently connected to a dse amp and xbox 360 of all things!

The speakers are in excellent condition. There is a minor mark on the base of one speaker as shown in Photo 2 below, which could be removed with some varnish. The driver of the same speaker has a very small surface scratch as shown in Photo 4 which was there when the speakers were bought new. Greg Osborn said this was just a manufacturing imperfection and has no effect on the sound at all.

Will sell for $1400.

Pick up is available from Clayton, Melbourne. I Will post, but i'm guessing it would be pricey.

Damn! One of the reasons I was so quick to order a pair with Greg's offer of 10 per cent off was because I assumed no one else would be selling a pair of these on the forums for quite a while. Oh well, the deposit's paid, and it's not as though I particularly regret getting a new pair :) . Good luck with the sale.

Hey ophool, who's the babe in your sig?

Obviously a relative :)

Thanks for the responses guys. I'd like to hang onto them for a while just to see what they sound like with better source equipment, but I plan on getting a 6w SEP amp (the taboo, from www.decware.com ) to power the horns, which wouldnt really be adequate for the Interludes.

ophool: Sorry, link to the BIB design is fixed now. Freight would be expensive. I would guess around $200, but it would still put them cheaper than buying for the new price + freight.

If you are serious about buying them, you might be able to cut a deal with Terry J to transport them back after his whirlwind visit to Melbourne next week.

I don’t know what sort of vehicle Terry has, nor do I now if he has any spare room for things like speakers, I was just thinking out loud.

ha ha spearmint,

I've just finished PM'ing him offering exactly the same thing!! I would be more than happy to help out.

Thanks Terry, I’m not normally one to offer other peoples services, but thought since these are not huge speakers in size it might be do able.

Just think if it does happen, you’ll be able to hook them up to the car system to give them a workout whilst travelling (j/k)

yeah Spearmint

what I 'forgot' to mention was that after getting them back to NSW, oh dear oh dear it might be a week or ten till I actually go to Sydney, which means I'll have to take them out of the car, and, I dunno, spose I'd better keep the run in for him, savvy??

purely as a favour to Ophool you understand!

Probably a long shot, but i'd be interested in doing a direct trade of the Interludes for an Opera Consonance Ref 2.2 Linear cd player, or a trade/part trade for a SET amp.

Appears these speakers will be harder to sell than I thought. I'm getting some interest but nothing serious yet.

On a side note, does anyone (Drizt maybe) have any experience with using the Osborn speaker spikes? I tryed putting them in last night but they just won't screw in!

Yeap I had the same problem. (with much anger, shouting and wall punching  )

For some unknown reason, greg uses spikes that weren't designed for the plugs that are in the bottom of the speaker. Greg uses some tool to shave a little off the inside of the thread (in the plug) to make the spikes he uses fit. For my next set of speakers ill definitely be asking for a better alternative.

This is a worry. Speakers weigh 68 kilos (more than me  ). How the hell can you put the spikes on, when there're not a perfect fit!

I'll be putting this task off for some time.

i'm not sure how it works on the interludes, but on my eclipse you simply threaded a grub/set screw into the base of the speaker, then the spike onto the grub screw...

Ok, here are the replys from Greg.

Greg said this in regards to why my Interludes used different spikes than were intended for the plugs:

They cost more than 12 times as much.</span>[/b]

Hope that helps guys.

That seems to confirm what Greg said above.....

P.S. your the first Eclipse owner I have come across  . Any chance of you giving a little bit of a write up on how you came to choose them (over what other speakers, even the ones in Gregs range)? Perhaps in a different thread though, create your own one :(

You may need a little CRC and a pair of pliers the first time, then they are fine.[/b]

Could someone let me know what CRC stands for?

Also, the Interludes are still for sale people although I'm starting to have thoughts about keeping them  They just sound so good!

CRC is a brand name oil spray in a can - you use it to get rid of squeaks and for a bit of a quick lube in tight places.
