Love them.

Just set up a 2 channel system for the wife as she likes to listen to internet radio.

Squeezebox Touch, 10 watt T-amp and Kef 104ab.

I shall also be setting a 2 channel system at work tomorrow, Samsung tablet with Tidal, a chip amp (15 watt) and a pair of Usher S520.

Main system:

TT: S.A.M Aldebaran with Fidelity Research FR-64S arm + FR-7 cartridge and FR-14 arm + AT ART9 cartridge > Hashimoto HM-7 SUT > Valab LCR-1 phono

Digital: Gieseler Groß DAC

Amp: LTA MZ2 pre (soon to be MZ3) + darTZeel NHB-108B study power amp

Speakers: Aurum Cantus F620

Cables are a mix of Litz silver, copper, Neotech UPOCC and Dueland speaker wire from Aurealis Audio.

The music side of system 2 (it uses an AVR into it as a preamp for movies) is:

TT: JVC TT-71 + Fidelity Research FR-54 tonearm + Philips GP922 cart > Hashimoto HM-3 > Modified Realistic 42-2101A phono

Digital: 16x NOS Phillips TDA1543 DAC

Amp: Oldchen KT88-K3

Cables are a mix of Aurealis Litz copper and Neotech UPOCC + Van Damme LC-OFC 6mm speaker wire

Both systems are quite different to each other though every bit as enjoyable in their own way. I'm grateful to be able to own both.  I'll be modding the Philips DAC to see if I can improve bass response, otherwise it won't stay in the chain despite my loving it's midrange and top end.

This is my main system in my study. It’s gone through quite a few changes over the years -  Maggies, Vienna Acoustics, Proac - but with the B&Ws it’s now easily at its the best.

I’m really happy to have local makers in my system - Elektra amps, Gieseler dac, Weston amp, @andyr cables. And it’s not tokenism, they are genuinely fine value-for-money products from talented designers.

  • Rega P3-24, TT PSU, with upgrades: Funkfirm platter, subplatter, ceramic bearing, Michell counterweight, Blue belt. Ortofon 2m Black, Graham Slee reflex era gold phono with PSU1.
  • Arcam Alpha 9 cdp - an oldie but goldie.
  • Arcam Alpha 8 tuner
  • Gieseler Gross dac with Kraftwerk PSU, Curious USB cable, Ultrarendu  with Gieseler PSU, Audivarna+, Tidal, iMac
  • Elektra Reference power & pre
  • B&W 805 D3
  • ICs & speaker cables custom made by @andyr

Terry, did you just beat me to those Les Davis 3D isolator pads in the classifieds? Do you put them under your electronics? I'd be interested to know how effective they are.

No problem, this one is not quite up to date as I have added a PrimaLuna CD player since.

@buddyev

Hi Russ, nope I purchased mine when they were first released and yes I put them under all of the electronics. They don’t make a big difference but they do, to my ears with my system, smooth things out a bit. They don’t cost bugger all so not a big one if they don’t improve your system, but for me they did.

cheers Terry

The current form of my recently relocated music listening setup. Yes I need to sort out furniture in it's new home :(

  • Paradigm Signature S8 v3's
  • Audio Analogue Maestro Duecento integrated
  • Schiit Gungnir Multibit DAC
  • Rasberry Pi w/Allo DigiOne Signature & iFi iPower/battery pack power (my main streaming source at the moment)
  • Cambridge Audio Stream Magic 6 (my older streamer/DAC combo)
  • normally Van Den Hul D352 Speaker cable, but Canare 4S11 currently while I work out speaker positioning in the new room
  • balanced interconnects are The Chord Company, coax is a cheap Audioquest
  • EGM Audio power leads into an Isotek EVO3 - still haven't made up my mind about those yet.

Moving DAC duties from the Stream Magic to the Gungnir recently has improved the sound stage immensely (especially the depth). The Stream Magic was still a solid performer though - it matched the tweeters in the paradiagms really well.

Joel, love the Paradigms. I read some rave reviews about the performance of the S8s. I have really enjoyed our main system below but when it comes to Tidal and our ripped CD's we have been sending them by Sonos to a Sonos Connect and then into the Musical Fidelity M6si. We are about to augment the system below by running ethernet cabling to a Roon Nucleus then by USB to Mytek Brooklyn DAC+ and from there into the MF M6si and then the Studio 100s.

While I am waiting for the cabling installation I have been using the Roon Nucleus by USB cable into the Mytek Brooklyn DAC+ and from there into NAD D 3020 and KEF LS50s, it has been really great so I am looking forwards to what it may add to my main system. The Brooklyn also did an amazing job with Oppo PM1s but not a good job on the LCD-3s, but that was only a short listen so will follow up on that surprising result.

In fact I am currently listening to Audeze LCD-3s from a Schiit Audio Jotunheim (with Multibit DAC) fed by USB cable from the second USB output on the Roon Nucleus. Great sound and that will remain in the study for headphone listening.

Nice job with the Lack rack.

How do the KEF’s go so close to the wall?

Thanks buddyev!
They certainly prefer it further into the room but with 2 kids under 6 that doesn't happen very often.
As is, the room is my main obstacle in need to get over.
We have plans to extend the house for a larger lounge/music room.

I need to get some plinths for my speakers. Are yours Bunnings concrete pavers or something more fancy?

I went to a local benchtop maker, they had so much offcut laying around.
Friday arvo cash job 2 x plinths cut to size for $20.

So they’re timber? That’s much nicer than a chunk of concrete. The Ikea bamboo cutting board gets a lot of love for the purpose. Cheap enough to experiment with, anyway.

Oh good. I just started a thread on this and assumed that the mass of stone would be best.

Currently using the second generation version of Les Davis discs after having great results with the original ones. Would highly recommend to try under equipment feet. One box will cater for two pieces of equipment

I've just spent the entire day removing all my gear from the old pathetic rack I had and replaced it with a Gecko 3 shelf unit I scored for $50 On Gumtree.

I've now placed acoustic mat under the components and playing with tweaks.

Take a look.

Now running the the Isotek system enhancer CD.1a39f8c880014fe71dfa0f555fe39040.jpgd19c1e50efcabd294a74947f20b5ce08.jpg
