yoshii Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 With sony Central, do they offer you a free cabinet and bezel with 46x all for $3500?Thanks in advance for your reply. Yup. The cabinet & bezel is a Sony Central store offer. So will be thrown in no matter what price you can haggle to...best i could do was $3500 (forgot to ask about ext wrty)
yoshii Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Thanks, that was useful. I'm looking to buy shortly in Melbourne too. No worries. I havn't checked other HN/JB branches, also wanted to try Powerhouse too. But with all the other stuff the store offered, i'll prob end up buying here (need to ask about ext warranty too, they said $499 for 'Sony Central' 4yr one). Hoping to work that into the price =)
s0com Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Hi Yoshi Thanks for the info. Do you have the details of the salesperson you spoke to? I am interested in the 46X with free cabinet for $3500 and I went to Sony Central at Melb Central but the guy said the best he could do was $3799. As there appears to be a few Melb guys interested in the same TV we might be able to get a better deal if we bought the together........just a thought. Thanks again, Andrew Just came back from a few stores to see what they were offering. Each store matched the following prices, with the additional offers listed below. 46X $3500 40X $3000 40W $2450 Harvey Norman (QV): ...said he could knock off maybe 10-20 more & throw in a Sharp Blu-Ray player, although the PS3 already doubles up as one & couldnt switch with a sound system or anything (only mentioned the player when i asked if they could match the Sony Central offer below). JB (Melb CBD): ...wouldn't go any lower, said he was selling for only $20 above cost. BUT would match anything lower if i could find anything. Sony Central (Melb CBD): ...Store offer - free cabinet (valued at $899 which i reckon is bs), free face bezel with X-Series only ($499 for 40" / $599 for 46" via Sony site) wouldn't knock anymore off the price. Will go in again with the cash this time (actually serious about buying, whether the believed me or not) and see if money really talks hahaha. Hope that info was useful to someone.
pavman11 Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 I've got a price of $3500 for the 47" Philips 1080p LCD with a Belkin Pure AV 8 outlet surge protector thrown in (sticker price was $189). It seems a good deal to me what have others paid for this TV?

kramo Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 As there appears to be a few Melb guys interested in the same TV we might be able to get a better deal if we bought the together........just a thought. Yes, I wonder if they would do any better? I wish they'd throw in extended warranty instead of a bluray player.......
PurpleIce Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Bought my VIERA TH-50PZ700A from Harvey Norman (main north road Adelaide) on the 16th Dec for $3330. Of course they had no stock on hand and I'll be waiting til mid Jan by the sounds of things but I want the panel so I bought now.
aussieboy2010 Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 (edited) Bought the Pioneer LX 50 incher today. My brother is close to some of the owner and the sales people at the store, ended up getting the panel for $5940. Was able to get the Bravia 52inch XBR for $5400 with the bonus PS3. Was actually a tough decision to make, but ended up going with the Pioneer. Can't wait for it to be installed! Edited December 21, 2007 by aussieboy2010

Thanks again, Andrew Hey Andrew, I can't remember the name of the guy, i have the card with prices written on it somewhere (unless i left it on my desk at work?). I got the $3500 a while ago at JB, and quoted that straight away to each place i went to today (JB/HN/SC) and they all said "yes we can match it but its below our cost blah blah". I also asked if they could better if it if i bought several because a few mates are after tvs too. 1x 46X 2x 40X 1x 40W But he said that "its already below cost". I'm gonna go back, prepared to buy on the spot, and see if they'll change their mind. Let me know when you wanna go and purchase because i'm sure once they see that much money/sales they'll be hard pressed to knock back any reasonable offer.
yoshii Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Yes, I wonder if they would do any better?I wish they'd throw in extended warranty instead of a bluray player....... I wish they'd throw in an extended warranty instead of the face bezel....its also the same price/cheaper for them.
yoshii Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 got a 46" bravia X series for $3840 from HN marion, inc 5 year warranty through HN. alright deal? That sounds alright. Thats around the same price i was offered at JB about a month back when i was about to buy.
yoshii Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Thanks for the info yoshii. I'll be needing a cabinet, so the Sony Central deals looks good. Any idea on how much for extra 2 yrs warranty? Sorry no idea about warranty prices, only rang up afterwards about the 4yr one because i forgot to ask instore. It seems their warranties are more exp than other places $499 (SC) vs approx $300 (JB/HN/GG), and each are third party/store warranties. The actual Sony warranty is around $600 for the 46" iirc.
aussieboy2010 Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 (edited) Do you mind telling us which store you bought the Pioneer LX508A for $5940. Hey mate, as i said in my post the store has looked after my brother for a long time, so i was v.lucky to get that price. I debated whether or not I should post the price on here since I dont wan't to piss the store off. I figured i'd post it just so you guys are aware that it's possible to get the panel for around the $6000 mark. I was having a chat to the salesman about the number of panels sold through the DTVforum GB that was done and he said that if we were able to get 10 sales then he'd prob be able to knock another $200 off the price I was able to get. Don't know how serious he was, but the point is is that the panels could conceivably be gotten for $5750 atm. As I said, i'm posting these prices just so you so you guys are aware that these prices are possible. I'll ring the guy I dealt with after Christmas and see if he minds me posting where I got the panel from. Edited December 21, 2007 by aussieboy2010
