Happs Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 (edited) Does anyone know when GT5 Prologue will be released here in Australia? Initially it was said to be 20 December (this Thursday), I believe it's been pushed back but I can't seem to find out what the new release date is. Can't wait to play this on a 1080p tv!! I was thinking of getting a copy from Play-Asia, but it's all in Japanese so I just hope Pal version comes out very soon. Edited December 18, 2007 by Happs
rezok Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 I think the date has been pushed back to early 08. ME being a gt tragic bought the jap version from play asia. Not easy to navigate around! Perhaps we should hijack your thread and discuss it until we either work out how to play it or get the aussie version!
sulimo Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 What I want to know is what the difference is between the PSN version and the disc version. Supposedly the latter has more, but I've never heard what exactly.
BXT Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Downloaded the demo the other night and I wasn't able to stop playing it.....I'm not normally a big gamer but I love playing GT...its the only game I owned on my PS2 and could quit possibly the only one I'll own for PS3....absolutely awesome on my Bravia X......I thought the release of the full version was happening on the 24th! I'm probably wrong as I'm not up to date on all things PS3 related...got it mainly for BD but now i'm finding myself donwloading other demos. Got the demo of NBA 08 yesterday...another good game although was only in 720p
Happs Posted December 18, 2007 Author Posted December 18, 2007 Yeah I've been thinking about getting it from Play Asia as well but had heard that the navigation was a little difficult. I understand a week or two delay between regions to allow for shipping and advertising etc, but why Japan would have it 'months' before us, Europe and the US floors me. I just can't wait for this game.
MC DUI Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Why the heck do they bother releasing a half finished game... Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the prologue version just a half finished GT5? Second to that why are you people willing to pay for a half finished game...

MC DUI Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 To whet your appetite I suppose! Wouldn't a demo on the PSN network do the same thing.... Why make people pay for it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the prologue version just a half finished GT5?Second to that why are you people willing to pay for a half finished game... It may be a 'half-finished game' but the GT series are AAA titles and will definitely boost sales of the PS3 console. A respected Japanese gaming magazine, Famitsu gave GT5 Prologue a rating of 39/40. Keep in mind that they have only given out a perfect score to 6 games, and 17 games (including this game) a near perfect score of 39. They also gave Forza 2 36/40 and PGR4 33/40 That being said, I will patiently wait for the full version...
MC DUI Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Famitsu rating a Japanese made game higher than an American made game! *SHOCK* There are plenty of AAA titles out there and demos suffice for those, anybody who pays for this and then pays for the full game is IMHO a sucker.
alwo Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Famitsu rating a Japanese made game higher than an American made game! *SHOCK*That is true, but you can't ignore the fact that not many games have received a near-perfect score from Famitsu so it must say something about the quality of this game.

sulimo Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 There are plenty of AAA titles out there and demos suffice for those, anybody who pays for this and then pays for the full game is IMHO a sucker. Well...supposedly in Japan at least there is a history of Prologue games.
Happs Posted December 19, 2007 Author Posted December 19, 2007 It's not a 'half finished' game in that it's not a Beta or has known bugs/issues with the code or anything. It's a full working version of the game complete with on line racing too. It simply has fewer cars (50 I believe) and tracks than the one that will ultimately be released. Also it's not like the full release will be a month or two after Prologue is released, they're talking about app. 12 months apart!! So it's still a proper racing game, just with fewer cars and tracks than the final version that we may not see here at all next year. Plus it's likely to be $50-$60, not the $110+ final game price, so it makes perfect sense to release this one now and a full version in a year. OH plus I believe that Prologue will also provide the ability to download TopGear episodes and other motoring video’s for free, so it also offers HD video content free for car enthusiasts. Well worth $60 in my opinion…

Dr. Smythe Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Fewer cars and fewer tracks = half finished by my definition. Point taken... and they never said it wasn't half-finished... the amount of time that it takes into modeling each and every car right down to the way light reflects off the inside of the headlights simply takes time. The game's main engine however is ready to go, albeit we may see some enhancements at full product launch. These may be available for update to Prologue owners regardless - who's to say. The point is - Gran Turismo is such a powerful franchise that a lot of people (perhaps not yourself) are demanding this 'half-finished' game. 50 cars, 6 tracks and online play all at 1080p and 60fps is more than enough to get most fans of the series on board. Yes, it would be great to have the game now, or perhaps for Prologue buyers to get some kind of upgrade or rebate on the full game when it comes through, but don't be suprised if this sells in it's millions regardless! I'm off to check my Japanese account later for the demo! Didn't know there was one! Food for thought: pro·logue noun (plural pro·logues) (plural pro·logs) Definition: 1. introductory statement: an introductory passage or speech before the main action of a novel, play, or long poem 2. preliminary event: an event or act that leads to something more important Cheers, Dr.
zeus1503559778 Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 so does the GT series finally have car damage now?

Happs Posted December 19, 2007 Author Posted December 19, 2007 so does the GT series finally have car damage now? No it doesn't, I believe to be able to licence the cars for the game, the car manufacturers didn't allow it. They don't want to see what their Fazza 599 looks like totalled!!! That's what the wrecked exotics web sites for!
MC DUI Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Isn't that excuse getting a bit old, games like Forza have licensed cars that can be damaged.

Arecsa Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 There's a Yamauchi interview here with a paragraph on what they are doing with damage in GT5.
Ramskii Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 You must create a Japanese PSN account.http://www.gtplanet.net/guides/index.php/C...ese_PS3_Account Happy Holidays Create a japanese account but couldnt find it anywhere. Apparently it has been taken down since nov 30th
