I am going to be in soooo much trouble with the cfo.......

I just bought one for $550 with software updates already added from Pymble Hifi, best price I could do and they are close to me so like the thought of getting to know them a little :)

Pick up tomorrow.

However I will also need an HDMI cable to connect to my Fuji 1080i Plasma

any suggestions on which one to buy ?

Also, I will need 6 RCA-RCA cables for sound to my receiver, again any recommendations or just any will do ?

Thanks

Congrats on the purchase holo, I guess you won't need to borrow my HD-A1 after all !!

These 6 channel audio cables from HTCustomCables are a pretty neat solution for your audio cables. Link

The HDMI cable is a no-brainer, go to hdmioz as Splash has suggested and you'll have it within 2 days.

EDIT: or if you wanted to save a few dollars, you get get 3 of these

I received my credit this afternoon from HN to recompense me for the additional cost of my XE1 at purchase which was not long before the price drop.

$450 in my pocket. It only happened because the senior salesman in the HT area listened and went into bat for me. The initial advice I had from the fellow I purchased from was a flat no. The HN Price Guarantee provided the leverage though I believe Toshiba provided HN a credit for my player.

Edit: not sure if the fellow should work for HN though as he clearly said "Don't buy Monster Cables". :P

I'm not often a fan of HN or their staff but I'd go back to Indooroopilly to this fellow again.

thanks Foggy, nah, no need for the lend, thanks for the offer though :)

The info that they were running out kind of forced my hand. I am bound to end up "purple" and it is just that there isn't a Blu player I like at the moment. I also hope it will rejuvenate my SD DVD's until I go Blu as well and some more blockbusters come out :)

Cables already ordered from Foxy and I will check out the audio cables you suggest, thanks for that.

(still hoping for that glimpse of your HT room though mate sometime in the future ;) )

haha, well done Tony.:)

Were they actually in stock ? and how much ?

ordering it and getting it in for me ! $550 (* sure - could have gone to CP Auburn - but that would have cost about $10-25 in petrol and time - added I can at least get some Home Theatre advice from Audio Connection !!)

now gotta go back to chinatown on Friday and buy another HDMI cable - and 2 optical audio cables !!! thank god I get paid thurs (and I contract in IT !!!)

Yeah gree. Its construction is superb.

it better be for when my missus chucks it at me for an unauthorised overspend

Likewise, but I'm hoping all the padding (read: HD DVD cases) I'm rapidly surrounding myself with will provide some protection...

I think I might try and get one on a lay-by, that'll be easier to slip through the net than a single unauthorised overspend :P:lol:

I came up with a cunning plan. My cfo is in Melbourne for work, I suggested she take a quick trip to Chapel St for a purchase or 2. She needed no second invitation so my $550 Xe1 ended up really costing $1000

Yes the chassis is well constructed. However the disc tray that pops out is at odds with the rest of the machine quality wise.

Looks and feels rather flimsy.

Isn't Klapp A/V on Chapel St?

If she's anything like my wife, she'll get the guilts about buying something for herself, so she'll duck into Klapp and pick you up that new HD DVD player that you were raving about.

picked mine up today, got Bourne Supremacy for the freebie (shame I was after Norbit) . Can't watch HD DVD goodness yet, waiting for cables to arrive :P

Don't worry about Norbit, you'll get that as a redemption title ... eventually :P

There is no escaping Norbit ...
