This is a little odd??

My XE1 has Apollo 13 inside whilst everyone is talking about Riddick and it seems it was made in 9/2007, any issue with that and claiming disc redemption?

No there won't be any issues with disc redemption beacause they will go by your purchase date anyway.

If you have any issues with the serial number on the online claim just call them on 13 30 70 and ask for redemptions and they will sort it out for you on the spot.

This is a real journey for me actually...

I had the XA2 in June last year, a real beauty I remember, I remarked that it was well made, pity about the region coding and the 110V bit, then got the A35, but it felt ligh-weight by comparision, - my friend was huffing and puffing with our 2 XE1s. And now back to the XE1!

But I am still not entirely satisfied with the analogue outputs yet, am following macca's thread for more info.... The bass is still weak but wathcing my R1 and R6 discs thanks to hddvduser almost brought tears to my eyes!

Anyone using a leagacy amp like me?

Nope, my policy, sell off the old before I can buy the new stuff....

Mind you it cost heaps more than the current Xe1... and that 5 free HD DVD... nuts....

Hope I have better luck with the Oz redemption.

Maybe I should instigate that policy..

Mate if you have seen my room you will know why...there isn't a lot of space and since I like new equipment but I sorely lack funds, the money I get from the old stuff will come in handy...

Room is a killer for me, luckily the mof approves of my hobby as long as I don't go nuts

I also bought mine from them, pretty good service actually for box movers

Just thought I'd give a heads up to any Perthies. I was in JB Osborne Park today and they had 5 or 6 XE-1's and a few E1s and E10s stacked up on the showroom floor.

Anyone know if there is any xe1's in the narre warren/fountain gate area? anyone bought one there at a good price?

If not, then around dandenong and places on this side of melbourne?

Planning a trip down on saturday!

Also, which is the best place in those areas that I can demo some home theatre gear? interested in listening to some krix speakers with marantz, denon and onkyo recievers

all help appreciated!

Adam.

CP Ringwood have a fair few .... if they are low, go to the clearance center and squeeze the lazy a******** for a better deal.

Thanks guys, any other anyone?

I'll need to check back after work tonight and then call the places you guys suggest to make sure, but if anyone has any places in that area that they bought one form that would be great too!

I need to try and find a place to demo ht gear and get the xe1 that are reasonably close together too. It is a pain when you live 2 hours from the city and dont travel around there too often, dont really know my way around too well - it all becomes an adventure!

You could try Retravision in Narre Warren - they are in the Homemaker Centre near JB hi-fi.

I got my EP10 there just after Christmas for $599 which was a brilliant price then seeing as JB hi-fi two doors down had them for $799 and weren't prepared to negotiate...

Harvey Norman in Narre had a stack of EP10's at that time too so they probably have XE1's too but again the same as JB's - I couldn't get them to budge on price...

Personally I will now shop at Retravision, Good Guys and Dick Smith every time and give JB's & Harvey a miss - they are a waste of time...

Harvey's is a good place to see demos of stuff though but then buy it somewhere else.

does anyone know any stores in Sydney which may have the XE1 'in stock' - ie - available to pick up today ?????????

it appears that there that there may be delaying in fulfilling current orders.

Strange thing, I popped in Battlestar Galactica last night (good deal at $99 from JB hi fi) and at 1080p 24fps there was a significant stutter.

I backed off and used the 1080p auto and it transmitted 1080i to my 507 plasma and it was alright. Another thing was the rather grainy nature of the video, is it supposed to be like that and has anyone seen this with their XE1?

Cheers

PS: I didn't want to start a new thread just for this, so I thought I asked here

I mentioned earlier that Domayne at Penrith has one, not sure if it's still there but since they wouldn't budge on price it quite possibly is.

hmm well it's usually only movies that are stored at 24 fps on discs isnt it? So if the source is actual tv rather than film and it is stored at 25/50 or 30/60, then you dont want to engage 24p playback mode on that. I cant seem to find anything indicating what BattleStar is stored as though. On one hand I thought HD-DVD was natvie 24 but then i do think some concert HD-DVDs arent... so this may be the issue with the stutter

Regarding your complaints of grain, take a look at the HiDef Digest review... it seems they also said the picture had heavy grain and also artifacts and colour banding etc. They really didnt rate the video quality... http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/682/battles...lactica_s1.html

thanks for all the responses to my question - however - all the stores are on the other side of Sydney :) !! oh well - I'll just have to wait the 2-3 weeks delay at Toshiba to get more stock in.
