Make sure you keep pestering them about it so they don't accidentally sell it to someone else!
abk_in_bris Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 For all you Brisbane folks, Clive Peeters have 2 stores in Aspley and both have at least 4 or 5 yesterday. It might be worth the drive. JB chermside also has a few.

abk_in_bris Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 The Clive Peeters at Loganholme still had 4 when I was in there on the weekend (looking at fridges ) ...know the feeling. Fortunately I grabbed one a few weeks ago when I was shopping alone and the ceo was at work. These are so good I wouldn't mind getting a 2nd one...

Guest moeman Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 After following this thread for the last few days I finally went out and purchased a XE1 from Clive Peeters at Braybrook. $515 over the phone agreement, after speaking to Andrew. All too easy Disk inside was Chronicles of Riddick. Just got it setup. Looks fantastic on the old Fujitsu 4242. Much better than 360 add on.

Volunteer Kazz Posted February 12, 2008 Volunteer Posted February 12, 2008 i thought the good guys didn't sell any Toshiba products ? That was my understanding as well, DSE don't either.
macx Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 I ordered an XE1 through Myer in Melb today. $580. Had to order it in. My EP10 can go into the bedroom. The sales assistant told me they are selling a lot at the moment with the new pricing.
Cozzmo Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 That was my understanding as well, DSE don't either. DSE will be selling Toshiba products. I asked a mate of mine who works at a DSE, he said they were going to start selling them but couldn't say when.

sandy1010 Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 when i have digital output set to bitsream on my Xe-1 it shows the output as Digital PCM , it still seems to be coming out as bitstream however as the volume levels are quite high. does anyone know why this would be ? and is there a way to change it? im running the audio via toshlink , using firmware 2.8 thanks.

Strange. Is this the case for SD discs as well as HD-DVD?
sandy1010 Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Strange. Is this the case for SD discs as well as HD-DVD? yes , it does the same thing for SD discs.

I'm not quite sure what you are trying to achieve. See Page 55 of the manual for configuring the audio options. The Digital Out SPDIF can only offer either bitstream (decoded to either DD from DD+ or DD True-HD or DTS from DTS-HD) or 2 Channel PCM. There is a limitation of using Toslink as the optical connection cannot carry any HD audio formats due to lack of bandwidth. You can only send the HD audio as bitstream ONLY over HDMI to a new AVR that supports the HD audio codecs. See Update Sheet (PDF).

Im not really talking about sending anything above DD+ over bitsream. I just cant work out why when bitsream is selected it still shows up 'digital PCM' in the info box. when i had an A2 and bitsream was selected it would show up as bitstream output. I just can see why this would be any different?

sandy1010 Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 the movie is probably playing in 2 channel digital its definatley playing 5.1 , thats what the receiver is picking up. When changed to PCM the receiver then only picks up the 2 channels. whats weird is the fact that the output display never changes from digital PCM to bitsream.
Guest techo_freak Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 (edited) Had gone to Audio Trends in Ringwood to grab an XE1, they couldn't even answer the basic question of "Do you have one I can take now?" I also found their arrogance and the owners ego a bit overwhelming, so I left empty handed. Ended up grabbing one from JB Hifi for $550, most of the Eastern Suburbs stores in Melbourne had stock.
