Trofius Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 SC LX81.......looks like nice step between good and unrealistic!
Protagonist Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 no worries, pages 19 - 21 in the manual gives you some ideas of conections and placement etc Thanks! Now its all connected up, I am just wondering, if I have the following setup: PS3--->HDMI--->LX60--->HDMI---->Bravia Would the video be molested in anyway?
maaark Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Thanks! Now its all connected up, I am just wondering, if I have the following setup:PS3--->HDMI--->LX60--->HDMI---->Bravia Would the video be molested in anyway? Hi There - i believe the way you are connecting your gear together is the best way.
maaark Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 I am having a problem with my LX50 - the sound is coming through rather "tinny" almost like a bad mp3 rip when i am watching FTA tv. DVD's & games are decent (considering the HTIB speakers i have) but the FTA tv both HD & SD channels sounds aweful. Last night when LOTR was on i could barely hear any dialog at all coming through centre speaker where as the sides and surrounds were quite loud-would this have anything to do with auto speaker set up? I have recently upgraded from a Kenwood receiver and didn't have this problem. Set up is as following PS3-->HDMI-->LX50-->HDMI-->50pz800a-->Optical-->LX50 Any help suggestions with settings would be muchly appreciated-i am new to this HT world and your guidance will not go unheard. P.S. The solution of buying new speakers is not an option at the moment - new TV/receiver + wedding on the way have stressed the cash reserves!
The D-Train Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Ive had my amp (LX60) now about 15 months and no issues until today. Was playing a movie, then got a loud pop in my right rear speaker and amp error came up on the avr screen. It then seemed to reboot and was then fine. The speaker seems to play fine but in about a one hour listening period I heard 2 individual very soft cracks comes through that speaker. Ive heard about an amp error coming up then the machine switching off and not booting back up but this didnt happen. has anyone else had this "amp error" come up before???? Im going to watch another movie tomorrow and see what happens.

The only issue I had, and it was from day one, was that the LX60 would lock up and not respond to any control inputs. Had to switch it of at the power. Dealer swapped it over without question. i've heard a few other people complain about the same thing. When it locks up everything appears normal, movies continue to play etc, you only notice it when you go to change the volume or something. Have you been shifting speaker cables around at all, or has something damaged/ chewed one perhaps? Having said that, not sure if the AMP would be "aware" of it as you are using pre outs with the Elektra doing the power side so a faulty cable issue may not even be reported back to the amp, but then again, it just may, dont know...... If the AMP actually had an error code on it, perhaps it's in the manual or Pioneer may be able to shed some light? edit: If the problem persists, I guess you could try swapping two of your rear speakers around to see if it's a faulty speaker. If it then stays on the same right rear, and the cable is ok, you could perhaps try hooking it directly to the Pioneer to prove that (god forbid) the Elektra isn't playing up. Maybe it's just your speakers crying out for that tweeter upgrade! good luck TB Edited February 4, 2009 by tb123

I havent moved anything around at all but will swap those speakers around if I get anything out of the ordinary. From memory the manual talked about getting the amp error and then the unit switching off. Mine came back on and no freezing. will see how it goes. thanks again.
The D-Train Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 i did another recalculate on the avr via the mcacc, watched two movies today and it was all fine. The only thing I modified from last time was to raise the channel level for each speaker. (cant remember the values) but the mcacc sets the channel levels low so you have to put the volume up to about 80% of max.
SprintRAT Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 (edited) Hello everyone I'm a newbie who has just purchased the Pioneer LX60 AVR. Did a bit of research first - mostly from this site The amp was the third step in my HT process and my last in the HD upgrade. Have had a home theater for about 13 years now starting with 4.0 dolby pro logic, VHS player and CRT TV. Recently upgraded to the Pana BW500 followed shortly after by the Pana 50" HD plasma. Now the LX60 had been added to the mix - I'm still playing around with the set ups and such but so far very impressed with the quality/features/sound of this amp I will post more questions and reviews at a later stage (we're still getting to know each other ) Cheers Edited February 25, 2009 by SprintRAT
SprintRAT Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 G'Day Had this great amp for a couple of months now - Fantastic - I love this unit Two things that niggle me at the moment To have 'HDMI Control' I must have that input set to HDMI as opposed to 'BD' (blu-ray) The HDMI input is a 'shift' function - so I have to press shift them HDMI to access my Blu-ray player HDMI Control is a good function because it gives you a display on the Plasma as well as other handy functions Second Has anyone had problems with the remote a) learning functions are lost if the batteries are removed learned 'TV Control' functions sometimes cause the remote to lock and the only way to reset is to remove the batteries Any help appreciated Cheers Mark
tb1231503560936 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Yes, it's a pain if you have HDMI control enabled you cannot assign the inputs. I ended up turning HDMI control off as it caused more hassles than what it was worth for me, so now just use the BD button on the remote. I could have tried the SR+ cable, but I have a Pio plasma so dont think that would work for you on a Pana display. I havent programmed the remote, as it already works on my Pio plasma.
nang3 Posted April 29, 2009 Author Posted April 29, 2009 OK I finally had my redmeption samsung bluray player delivered a couple of weeks back and set it up last week, connected via HDMI to my Pio amp.. If i set the BD player to output whatever HD audio format is on the disc - tried DTS-HD-MA the other night - what audio setting should i set my receiver too?? it usually comes up with PCM or Auto PCM if i remember correctly - is this the right one to take advantage of the HD codecs? Havent had a chance to play around much yet but would like to get pointed in the right direction..

Havent had a chance to play around much yet but would like to get pointed in the right direction.. depends if your BDP can internally decode the HD codecs and bitstream it to the LX60 (you will see DTS-HDMA etc on the AVR's display in this case) or only send it as PCM, in which case you will only see PCM on the LX60. I just have the LX60 set to "Pure Direct" without any of the other modes enabled and take it as it comes from my Pio LX70a BDP which can decode and bitstream all of the codecs. It really comes down to what the Samsung is capable of.
nang3 Posted April 29, 2009 Author Posted April 29, 2009 I had a look but the site keeps timing out on me ; http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/detail/...&fullspec=F I cant see anything on bitstreaming though and it looks like it can't decode DTS-HD ??
