Guest Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 56,I mentioned your order to Mrs Sheds, to which she enquired..."What colour did he order...?" cheers 2sheds Morning Mr Sheds The wife and I ordered the car in a colour that our family and friends thought we would never have . Candy White :o . With the red high lights on the car ,grille bars and red brade calipers the white & red pin stripping on the Jackie interior just tided the interior & exterior together just right . Being an expanel beater I have always had candy and pearl finishes on cars and haved stirred my dad and best mate up about having boring white cars . Good to see you back posting on the forum . Cheers Mal

Cheers Mal Mal. Thanks. I'm with you there. After having white company cars for more years than I can remember, I figured I would never look at another white car again. But. I must admit, the white in the VW (and in the Audi) suits the car extremely well. For the current GTI, in particular, I reckon it's a winner. cheers 2sheds
Guest JohnA Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Love the white also. There was a white one at camberwell, almost fully optioned minus sat nav They pissed me off though so didn't bother making a fair dinkum offer on it. Also had custom plates GTIVI

lamtran Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Nice purchase JohnA. Was considering the GTI when looking at cars for my wife. She ended up choosing the Mini though. Will definitely come over for a spin and see how it goes eh
Guest JohnA Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 cheers lam will give you a buzz once i pick her up
Guest Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Morning . GTi and fitting slimline personal number plates ,what a pain in the arse & looks .VW for some reason has bracket/panel that is bolted to the front bumper the problem is there are four bolt holes and they are covered by the euro plate but when using slimline plates you can see these screw holes . So when I get the car and the slimline plates I will either remove the original bracket fill the holes in the bumper tand mount the slimline plate in its own cover/bracket or make a facia plate to go between the slimline plate and original mounting bracket then colour code the whole lot. Cheers
Guest JohnA Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 just grab some euro plates, thats what i plan on doing, even though the price on them is a rip off
Guest Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 just grab some euro plates, thats what i plan on doing, even though the price on them is a rip off Don't live in europe ,plus I rather the car stand out not the plate . Cheers

cheekyboy Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Well done John, that was bloody quick! Can't wait to see the pics:cool: I've been looking at the APR mods for my VW because the warranty is up in about a month anyway, but the cost of the 60,000km service due now has given me reason to pause..............$1,300.00 thankyou very much. Nearly need to take a loan to get the service done! Cheers, Keith

obiwan Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 So what's the concensus? APR, Oettinger, Bluefin?????
JeffK Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Good on you John, looking forward to hearing your first impressions. Take it easy though - wouldn't want to lose the licence! Jeff
Guest Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 So what's the concensus? APR, Oettinger, Bluefin????? APR are one of the few or the only company that actually buy's the car then does all the development . Also I think APR does high performance work for VW . Cheers
cheekyboy Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 (edited) APR for me.....................! Have looked at Oettinger too and don't know Bluefin. Cheers, Keith Edited April 1, 2010 by cheekyboy
Guest JohnA Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 thanks guys got the car home safe and sound then went on a few more little spirited drives Am enjoying it so far, handles well, nice note and the pops and farts when changing gears is cool Will be going for a nice long drive tomorrow to really put it through its paces. As for mods, yep, i'm up for APR, but once i get some time up on it and make sure there are no little issues or bugs that i would need to take back for warranty
